The decision is 35 Rem or 38-55 I have a life time supply of ammo for both so which would be your choice if you could only have just one

35 Remington.
Tough decision. Both are desirable. Personally I think the 38-55 in a lever is just classic. Then I love the 35 Remington to deer hunt with, never used the 38-55 on deer. Just get both if you can and the problem is solved.
Depends on what you want to do with it. The 35 Remington produces more energy and is a good deer round for woods hunting. Of the two I've only owned the 35 Remington and I really liked it. For plinking around and short range fun the 38-55 if you have plenty of ammo already. You said you have plenty of ammo for either so the 35 Remington being easier to find ammo for isn't an issue for you like it would be for me.
I still have a few rounds of 35 and a Lee hand loader for it.
not sure I have always heard that the 35 is a deer getter though
