All dressed alike, and some seem to be wearing badges, but I can't make them out. Can you?

That picture is in one of my history books. they're from the spanish american war part of Teddy Roosevelts Tough Bunch.
This is the caption under the photo that is all the information I have.
Portrait of seven veterans of the Spanish-American War known as "The Tough Bunch" or "The Bad Gang" of "Teddy's Terrors", 1904. :: California Historical Society Collection
I feel sorry for their horses.
If they are "The Tough Bunch" or "Teddy's Terrors" I'm guessing they are anyone they want to be!! 😁
That expression; "Who are those guys" puts me in line with Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid.
The picture sure aint them. The guy in the very back is holding a bunch of beers!
Notice only one has his holster slung low. On horseback the holster must be riding high to avoid losing the pistol. I would think this is a "years after" get together picture. I did recognize the uniform as a rough rider uniform.
"Teddy's Terror", The Bad Gang 1903.
Fat boy on the left side is wearing his holster cross draw.
I get the feeling that this is some of the cast for an early 20th century silent movie.
I doubt they are the real thing. Too old, too fat, too sloppy. And did the guy in the white get lost from the marching band or what?
I think they won the campaign they were on...........
I noticed that too nononsense. Yet he is holding in his right hand. I assume the guy in the white is there just for entertainment purposes.
😲
It says the photo was taken in 1904. Read it for the rest of the history of the pic. Don
Reminds me of John Candy in the back with his hat off and the Polka band from home alone
