Stay safe and if by chance your hat blows off and makes it this far I’ll try to grab it for ya on the way by. 😎

Wow, you might have to tie yourself down.
Be safe and warm
Take care of yourself 115mph wind is no joke.
Its going to be nice here 54 and sunny. I am going golfing at 1100 and I may drink a few beers😉
Hey nanuq,
I found you a new wind sock. Hang it from the tree in your front yard.
It's calibrated to stand straight-out in 115 mph wind.

115 WINDS AND SNOW!!! That's some stuff right there. I mean, you can't get "out." Houses built to take that kind of punishment up there I suppose?
Don't despair. The "Monster winter storm" they've been forecasting for us today turns out to be nine snowflakes.
Sounds a bit breezy.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
Perfect weather for no skeeters!
Well we made it through the night, sure nuff 115 indicated, it’s down to about 60-70 now and snowing. We have an impressive drift across the downwind side of the house, I had to dig it out so I could go check on our neighbor, she’s 88 and lives alone. Her power went out so I brought her Christmas treats and a thermos of coffee and some blankets. I threatened to drag her kicking and screaming back to our house if the power isn’t on soon. She’s fiery and independent and capable but not this time.
It’s really something watching the trees. My dad used to say
”good timber doesn’t grow with ease, the stronger the wind, the stronger the trees”
That sure applies to lots of things in life.
That’s really good of you to keep tabs on her. Probably hard for her to give up independence after this long. Good luck convincing her to stay with you a while until the power is back.
Tell her better to fight and run away so she can fight another day! And peeps in the lower 48 are rooting for her!!
We have 30 mph winds in Austin ,TX...............and there are wind advisories like people are dying.
Oh we've seen worse. I live up on the side of a pass with Prince William Sound on one end, and Cook Inlet on the other. They have different weather patterns so the pressure has to "equalize" through the pass. We get some crazy wind. You can hear it roaring by overhead, touching down with some big gusts, or it will just stay on the ground and wreak havoc.
What do you folks make your kites out of up there? Angle iron and sheet metal with 1/4" braided cable for a string?
Been in the 50's here. A little rain today but really nice yesterday.
Usually we just tie a winch to a cinder block and let er rip.
