Told someone you won't sell a gun or ammunition? FFL's, or anyone private face to face ?

Yeah, a few times. When the customer was obviously impaired from drugs or alcohol. Not a comfortable situation to be in. Bob

You don't work in a gun shop long without having that experience. Guy picks out a gun steps back and says "My girlfriend will do the paperwork. It's really for her". Or girl comes in and asks for an AK47. Ok, which one would you like to look at. Pick one from the rack. No?? Not sure what an AK looks like?? BYE BYE. Her boyfriend has recently been denied by nics.

Yes. Ricci gave you the best ones. Oh ya. I lost my license but my girl friend has hers.

Several times . As Ricci said , boyfriend / girlfriend type deals . One guy picking out the gun and another , not related to him pulling out the money to pay . If your gut tells you it doesn’t feel right then it probably isn’t . I’m not bound as a dealer to sell to anyone

I denied a friend of a friend , a private sale once. The guy was bouncing off the walls, as we were speaking and made some off hand comments about, Man this could kill some *. Needless to say, he needs a better friend. My dad, when he owned the gun store, denied sales all the time, to sketchy people, even if they qualified for the sale. He was an excellent judge of character..

I used to work gun shows as a hobby when they were close to my area. More times than I can count that I have told people an item was not for sale, only display. Some very sketchy characters that frequent the gun shows.

never had to say NO to selling, but as clays said used to do few gun shows a year, and many times have been asked to buy a pistol/rifle from some rather shady folks and told them no, when price is too good you have to ask yourself why????

  • grdad45grdad45 Member Posts: 5,382 ✭✭✭✭

Yes, at gun shows. Had a real cocky "dude" start bad-mouthing one of the guns on my table, evidently trying to make the price come down. The gun was one of my personal firearms, and I knew everything about it. After I let him spout off for a few minutes, I told him he needed to move on because he d#^*& sure wasn't going to buy it at ANY price. He stormed off, and I saw him talking to the promotor of the show. I handed the gun to my partner and told him to go put it in his truck. When they came to the table, I told them I had just sold it. Game over!!

One of the gun shops I frequent recently put up a sign that said if you smell like alcohol or Marijuana, we will not sell you a firearm or ammo. I asked if that has become an issue and was told at least a couple times a week.....😯
