Getting old and forgetful really sucks

I just spent over an hour and a half looking for my watch. I looked in all the rooms upstairs, in the basement, even in the garage, and it was nowhere to be found.
A few minutes ago I pulled my glasses out of my pocket and found my watch behind my glasses case. My wife just sat there and laughed at me, and I had to also.
I had told her I may have to go buy another one, that would guarantee that the old one would show up. 🙄

Happens to the best of us.
I was just looking for my Arno Bernard knife to wear tonight.
it wasn’t on the dresser where I knew I left it.
Thinking it fell behind the dresser, I knelt down and felt around.
No knife but I did find the remote key fob for my truck I’ve been missing for over a year. 😃.
I did find my knife on the dresser in my den.
I know the feeling. What is really frustrating for me is that I swear I have it in my mind I know where I saw the item last but just can’t bring back the memory of the exact location.
In the end it is not where I though it was.
The worst part of the whole thing, was that I spent all that time looking for my watch and I had it with me the whole time.

I can remember when we used to work in offices and I was packing up to leave. Put the home cell phone in my backpack and couldn’t find my work cell phone. Looked around for a minute before I realized I was talking to someone on it!
Next, you will walk into the kitchen and when you get there have no idea what you came for.

Now next time that you’re looking for your glasses... just look for your watch
all the free tape measures a got from harbor freight about 20.. still never have one handy
This is why my refrigerator needs a lube job on its hinges!! 😁

I hate when I am working on something lay down a wrench or a part then loose it after just sitting it down a few minutes before .
going to the kitchen or the pantry is almost a given one of the dogs distract me or con me into giving them a dog treat then wait what did I come in here for then start down a list of what it may have been I went for to start with short term memory is almost non existent but I can remember about every thing and day from my younger days ..

Just going to the kitchen isn't as bad as walking 200 yards to the barn only to forget what you went there for. That's one reason I don't need an exercise bike or treadmill.
Being forgetful has its benefits sometimes. As I posted in Riccis click clack rifle thread I found a Marlin 22 that I had forgotten about. Now if I could just remember where I put it!🤔 Bob
Guilty of most of the above. Nice to see I'm in good company though. I thought it was just me going nuts.

I still want to know how a 10 mm socket can disappear while I am sitting in the same place working on the lawnmower and haven’t moved for 30 minutes . One minute it is there and the next , poof ,it is gone
Hasn't happened to me yet. In fact, I can't recall the last time I forgot something.

As you age, you do indeed begin to experience memory challenges. First you forget your friends. Then you forget to zip up your pants. Than you forget to zip down your pants. Or so I hear.
Some of this sounds familiar. Luckily I will forget about it by this afternoon 🤔
My solution is to take the dog with me as I head out to the barn. I write down what it is I'm going after and stick the notes on his ears. Whenever I start writing stuff down, the dog runs for his crate...for some reason.
That happens every day no matter what room I'm in. As I've said before my father had alzheimers, and my mother had dementia, I'm just waiting to see which one I get.

We all have memory issues especially as we get older. Sometimes its hard to know whats just the normal ageing process and when you're in trouble. Had a phone call from a good friend from high school. We're both 76. He couldn't put together a complete sentence. Had talked to his wife a few days before and he can't remember how to start his motorcycle. He's in the early stage of dementia. Great guy. Wife is a saint. Wife has been a friend since grade school. There's no good way out of this. She's planing to sell his truck and motor cycle and has no idea how to go about it. I offered to take care of that for her if she wanted me to do and to do anything else I could do for her but she has hell to go through before it's all over. I pray that my wife or me never end up there. Be thankful for every good day that you have.
