After Dawnie was diagnosed with Covid, and before we left the hospital, the ER doc gave us a list of vitamins and supplements to take to boost the immune system. Most were familiar and their presence on the list made sense. One entry stood out.
IVERMECTIN.
It's a veterinary worm medicine. I did a little research and found it recommended from several quarters, so I found and ordered some. What I found is a paste made for horses and apple flavored.
My sister, the former vet tech, has also ordered some from her veterinarian.
I reckon we'll see.

You were prescribed horse medicine? David, I always knew that you were as stubborn as an old mule 😉
I hope it works. In the meantime, get plenty of bed rest...or just relax on fresh straw out in the stable.
I have a jug of the pour on I use for my cows. Just measure the amount and pour a line down their back. I can send you some for Dawnie if you want.😁
It works on Cov-2 replication and I guess slows it down for multiplying.

We report here that Ivermectin, an FDA-approved anti-parasitic previously shown to have broad-spectrum anti-viral activity in vitro, is an inhibitor of the causative virus (SARS-CoV-2), with a single addition to Vero-hSLAM cells 2 h post infection with SARS-CoV-2 able to effect ~5000-fold reduction in viral RNA at 48 h. Ivermectin therefore warrants further investigation for possible benefits in humans.
In a couple of months Nunn will need a new avatar.
Here is another drug that has been said to help fight Covid 19. I have a friend on another forum I partake and he has been prescribed this.
What is bamlanivimab | Antibody Drug | Lilly COVID-19 Treatment
David, I am keeping you and your wife in my daily prayers.
Whatever it takes to get well..However Nunn aka Mr. Ed .
i get it at my local feed store in liquid form. been using for a heartworm medicine for my dogs for many years.
Hopefully it works for you both and when you are well you can play stallion tries to mate the bucking filly!
I just want Dawnie to get better. She is miserable, in constant pain. I think moving around might help but she won't.
My symptoms are nowhere near as bad as hers. I run a little fever in the evenings, and am a little tired. Beyond that, I have a stuffy, runny nose, and every so often, I cough up a really thick loogie.
Tractor Supply Az. has it. Tractor Supply Ca. does not.
...Sounds like a smart Doc...most vet meds are more pure than people meds, they need to be when dealing with very large animals...GET WELL SOON DAWNIE!...and YOU stay well David...😐️
I've had Ivermectin in the house for the dog as heart worm prophylactic, taken monthly. Had no idea it could be found as a nonprescription.
Had a neighbor that would go to the farm supply often for combiotic.
Used it for whatever ailed him .Must have killed him, he died at about 90 years old.
My wife ball bark of five months ago ? told me a lot of people are taking and also giving it to pets to help cure cancer / and tumor growths . she told me and still does the internet what ever sights she visits countless people swear by its healing effects on them self and pets
I think she picked some up several weeks ago for the dogs as they are getting older and at least one does have some very small tumors showing
Couldn't tell you about the ivermectin (although I have heard the rumors going around), but there is one treatment I would do everything possible to get if I was worried about my illness turning into a severe case. That would be the Regeneron, or the Lilly monoclonal antibody infusions. They seem to work miracles if given within the right time frame. This is what Trump, Carson, and Giuliani all had, and personally I thought all of them might be history when I heard they were infected, due to age, and race in the case of Carson. Trump and Carson both claim this is what saved them.
Funny thing is these were predicted to be in short supply, and only available to VIPs per se. Due to our seeming inefficiency at doing anything right anymore, the supplies that went out are by and large sitting unused. This is a treatment that is meant to keep people out of the hospitals and ICUs, but they are too busy with severe Covid cases to administer this successful treatment on an outpatient basis. It's simply sad what has happened to our once world leading abilities at handling things of all types.
Seems the supplement recs are Vitamin C, D, melatonin, zinc, aspirin, and famotidine.
The vaccine rollout situation is yet another embarrassment,....but that's off topic. I wish you both a quick and total recovery from this regardless of what treatment paths you pursue.
Yep. It appears that following CDC guidelines of sending folks home to get better in a watch, wait, and see if you get worse and need hospitalization is what may be having an impact on the mortality rate. Treating with proven drugs at the onset curtails the onset of life threatening symptoms and hospitalization. Don't know if doctors have been instructed to wait and see because of the early issue of possible shortage. Just leaves me shaking my head.
I'm curious as to the dosage for people. The stuff I keep on hand for the horses is a tube that treats a 1200 lb. horse.
dosage would be nice to know
here's a little more on it

Just divide it by weight. Six 200lb doses.
Seriously though, are we really discussing using a large animal parasite treatment on humans? The prescription equivalent can not be that expensive or hard to come by.
Actually, there is a glut of monoclonal antibodies. Problem is few medical facilities have the personnel to administer them. You can't sit an infected patient in an infusion center filled with cancer patients, & have a tech sit with you for 2 hours to keep watch on you for adverse reactions.

Not hard to come by at all. I mentioned this to my wife and she said, that’s what we used to give to the horses for worms, probably some still in the barn, but out of date!
I have to believe, turning the dose adjuster a little and giving to a person would be easier, had to put it between their lips as far back as you could get it or they would use their tongues to kind of wipe it out.
Hoping your course of treatment helps David.
If you have to start typing with a pencil in your mouth, like Mr Ed dialed the phone, I expect your responses will be delayed, but keep us up on how you guys are doing.
let us know how it works.
Found this:
Ivermectin is a key factor in the alliance’s I-MASK+ protocol for prophylaxis and early treatment of outpatients with COVID-19. In the protocol, those at high risk for COVID-19 infection receive ivermectin at 0.2 mg/kg on day 1 and day 3, and weekly for 4 weeks; those who were exposed to COVID-19 receive the same dose at day 1 and day 3; and both groups receive daily doses of vitamin D3, vitamin C, quercetin, zinc and melatonin. For early outpatients with COVID-19, the protocol calls for one dose of ivermectin at 0.2 mg/kg at day 1 and day 3, along with the same daily vitamins and 325 mg per day of aspirin.

Well, looks like the critters worm medicine just got more expensive. Like some of you I give it to my dogs. When I had horses I gave it to them once a month.
Once you and your wife are cured try Some PQQ and CQ-10 supplements to rebuild your cells back up to optima condition. Some colostrum would not hurt you either. I wish the best for you and family. If you take meds make sure you check with your doctor first

gets rid of my worms ok
Why wife went thru this a few months ago. A doctor friend told her to go to as particular clinic that gave her "Hydrochoriquin" (sp?). He told her not available any place due to politics?? Worked miracles with her.
If I remember correctly collies and collie breeds may have an adverse reaction to Ivermectin.
I once gave some to my GSD and I thought I about killed him. Don
