Ode To Taurus
Well my my what have we here,
its 1999 and I see this gun called 24/7
I took you home because you cost so little,
but I found out why, when you choked, stoved, and
made me say no way would I trust you on a rainy day...
o Taurus , o Taurus I sold you down the way,
and swore to stay away...
well 2020 and the 905 caught my eye..
but it’s a Taurus so I walked on by,
but the thought of a 9mm wheel made me turn,
and say, one more round with that Brazilian firm..
i got you home and started to spin,
you took one day around with me and
locked up tighter than a banking bin
i see you there with your hammer cocked , locked
and empty to my attempts to pry,
so the story ends as it begins
With me out my dough and the Brazilians win
i will not go there agin
as the saying goes, burn me twice and
Smith will rise again

I have a couple Taurus nightmare stories but mine don't rhyme. 😂
I have owned two Taurus revolvers............both without issues...........only have one of them now.
It has been about 50/50 for me the wife has a model 85 lightweight that has been nothing but reliable I tried the 905 also with the same results
I have a 10 shot 22lr DA revolver made by Taurus. Decent adjustable sights on it.
I like although the trigger is horrible even for a DA.
You guys scared me away from Taurus a long time ago. I've never even touched one. It sounds like I haven't missed anything. Thank you. 🙂
Joe
The lovely Taurus Curve.
COMES WITH A CLEAR SIDE PLATE SO YOU CAN SEE WHAT BROKE.
Cool poem, ros. As far as Taurus goes.....Naw I'll just stick to Smith & Wessons.
I had the copy of the SS S&W 38 sp back in the mid 90s and it was a decent revolver.
I have a G2C, no problems with it yet, but it only has a few hundred rounds through it.
Well while I would never compare S&W and Taurus, S&W has had a few problems too, as have most manufactures. I think the first M&P pistols went to the N.C. Dept. of Corrections to replace, I think model 65 revolvers with broken barrels. I saw a box of model 65's with the barrels broken off in Raleigh, N.C. a few years back. I think they were two piece barrels???
But a revolver , I mean how does a new revolver break
my guess is it’s related to the “safety” set screw on the hammer , it worked great until I decided to turn that and then turn it back “off”
The irony of a bs pc safety on a revolver makes me smh 🤦♂️
im sure the lifetime guarantee will fix it but I will never trust a Taurus again, period
I must be in the minority . We sold a ton of them thru the gun shop . Never had any problems in the 4 years I worked there . I have an early 1911 , so far rock solid going on 9 or 10 years .
I had a 93 Taurus. Drove it til the tires fell off!
My very first sale on the auction side was a PT145. One of the few guns I've got rid of and didn't regret it one bit.
I am not a Taurus fan by any means. I think the PT 92 is a OK gun but the rest of their stuff is marginal at best.
I want a gun named after a dead white guy not some constellation or animal.
Never had any trouble with my Taurus revolvers. Considering the price on S&W and Rugers, I think they can present a great value for a non-heirloom working gun. That said, I wouldn't say the same on their semi-auto lines. Too many widespread issues, and too many better options for the money.

My experiences with Taurus are empirical. Junk! See many at the range along with the frustrated buyers complaining they dont work. My advice as always is to spend the extra bucks and buy Ruger, Colt, Sig. Beretta, or SW.
If you want a budget gun that actually works: Go with HiPoint
I agree. You want an El Cheapo Special but you want it to go bang when you pull the trigger. That is my definition of a HighPoint.
Shooting HighPoints is like dating fat girls or riding Mopeds. They are actually fun to do but you don't want anyone you know to know you are doing them!! 😂😋😂
I sat at the desk and took you apart,
you stayed locked as dicks hat pin
and then at the end, i put you together again
I tried this time and the hammer she fell
so i thought Its going to be good for the boat well...
I put you up and went back to the desk
and a found a sheared pin screw thing made me chuckle
I began to cry and then laughed at the thought
of mailing my little throw down to south america overnaut
Guns are mechanical and i do know they fail but i
wont worry to rust the ole 686
in the belt
in stead of standing there holding my....

I’ve owned several Taurus revolvers and never a problem. Currently only have a twelve year old 850 that still goes bang every time. I bought some S&W autos in the past that crapped the bed from day 1. Had a S&W K38 split a forcing cone using 158 grain lead bullets, a Charter Arms .44 Bulldog lose timing. But there are no worse guns on the planet than stuff from Jennings purchased by a newbie gun owner in the 1990’s before the internet lol.
I had a taurus 85. It was a 5 shot 38 special stainless steel with a 2" barrel. It's one of the guns I should not have let get away. It worked everytime I pulled the trigger and the bullet went where I aimed out to about 50 feet.
Taurus... translation... You get what you pay for.
I really liked the way these Tauruses ran and the were very comfortable but both the 04 and the 06 model which were company cars we could buy at a great price after one year of use only lasted just over 10 years before they died and the mechanic said cost more to fix than they were worth so they have become yard art....
I saved some sale papers from a local sporting goods store from the early 90s.I was looking at some of the a few days ago and how much prices have went up since then. Most guns have doubled or tripled except Taurus.Prices for Taurus now are pretty close to what they were in 1991.So much for the investment grade Taurus.
I have two Taurus revolvers, one I've had for well over thirty years is a blued, .357 and the other I've had for maybe fifteen years, it's a stainless, seven shot, .357.
Now maybe I've just been lucky but both of them run as well as any of my other revolvers, Colt, Smith, etc, both are in like new condition. All of them are more accurate than I am. :-)
I wish I bought broken guns instead of sinking like $10,000 to make everything right. I payed for a tranny rebuild with a new torque converter and I think was cheated. I know what a bad one acts like. On the other hand, my far off brother has a snubby Taurus and 4" .357 that is mint and is a black mirror. Both from early 90s or so. Ive only seen them twice.
Disclaimer: While I do not believe in astrology, I find it interesting that the only folks that have good luck with their Taurus are the ones born under........
😮
I still have two Taurus guns and both function as well today as they did when they were new. PT 100 & PT 945 both semi auto's, both cycle well and are not finicky about ammo. I have had more trouble with major manufacturers (mostly Glock) than with Taurus. The PT 101 left side safety broke off because I abused it (stuffed into the holster too hard after plate shoot). It still functioned properly by using the right side safety lever. Taurus fixed it for free even when I told them it was my fault it broke. The P 945 is basically a Sig 226 clone in 45ACP. It shoots straight and is dependable so I keep it in my truck. They do provide a lifetime warranty so if you have one that is screwed up at least they will fix it for free. My brother has a TH9 in 9mm that works like a champ. All manufacturers have a crappy design now and again. Taurus is no worse or better than anyone else. Its like car companies, someone always has a horror story no matter who the manufacturer is or how good the product is supposed to be.
