Who cares? Buy a better rifle for less money in a standardize U.S. military and civilian cartridge:
Noreen BN36X3
Generally speaking, if you’re looking to go .30-caliber in an AR-10, you’re hemmed in with the .308 Winchester. Almost. A marked break from the pack is Noreen’s AR-style .30-06 rifle—the BN36X3.
Despite running a longer cartridge, thus boasting a slightly larger receiver, the rifle is as familiar as any other derivative of Eugene Stoner’s original. Especially nice, the controls—mag release, safety, bolt catch—are all where you expect them, thus intuitive to operate. The one difference is the side charging handle. While a beat off normal, it isn’t anything that glues up the works. Best of all, the BN36X3 boasts AR-level magazine capacity. Though, the 20-round mag is proprietary—nothing too unusual in the world of AR-10s—so ends up running a pretty penny.
The Noreens—father-son team Peter and Paul—built their reputation in custom-made, precision rifles and bring plenty of that knowhow to the BN36X3. In addition to top-quality parts, it’s also reflected in the accuracy of the rifle—fully capable of 1 MOA precision on the regular. Aiding in some of this, and making the rifle’s recoil more manageable, is its heft—a full 9 pounds. However, this tends to make it a bit cumbersome on long treks into the backcountry, if you’ve happened to pick one up for hunting.
In .30-06, the BN36X3 is also available in two 16-inch barreled carbine configurations, if you’re in the market for a slightly more wieldy option. In any case, given the guns are made to order, expect to open up your pocketbook.
MSRP: $2,254 Standard Model
😀😉
Best.
SVD's are garbage, plus you cannot get good ammo to shoot out of them so they will never see their potential no matter how low that is.
Another advantage that Nononsense overlooked with the Noreen is that it is also available in .270 Winchester!!!
I'm sure this was a simple oversight on his part... 😋
Stir, stir, stir...
Well, the "winner" is a NR bidder, so I wouldn't make reservations at Ruth's Chris' just yet.

A .270 trainer rifle. You might as well buy the big .30.
Plenty of firearms with better precision than that outdated one.
Those have always been high, it also uses the 7n1, or 7n14 7.62x54r loads. Hard to get, and expensive.
Maybe you were thinking of a Romanian PSL? They used to be $700-800 or so, very similar in appearance to the Dragunov.
Holy moley!!!
You're better off buying new, direct from the manufacturer, than using the auction side right now. Especially for anything that is semi-auto with a detachable magazine.
Not including the bipod was the deal breaker for me.
FNAR is a far superior rifle that does not get the respect it deserves, imo only but mine is lights out - course diff caliber for sake of argument.
Ain't there some adage about "a fool and his money? Seems I heard something about that from my father decades ago...😗
My dad has a PSL, I always wanted the real SVD, just as an avid collector of military firearms. I know all about them and no way I would pay over $1200 for one, I was more making a statement of how stupidly high that one is bid up to. For that coin I would be getting a Barrett .50BMG
7n1 was a scam by ammo importers to make more money off surplus. Czech silvertip is far more accurate. I just checked prices on the PSL😮, glad I got mine when they were cheap!
Price is still climbing, $8350 now and not a NR bidder
8800.00 dollars? I bought my first house for less than that!
Well, from an investment standpoint, whoever bought and sold this gun for $8800 made a lot of money on it. So I guess he made a good decision.
