Found this today on my walkabout (I'm working over here in Yokosuka). Interesting story on Wikipedia on how this ship was lost during WW2. Kind of fitting, as the ship was built here 100 years ago.

I wonder how many lb/ft of recoil one of those 16" rifles has? What ever the number is I am sure one would develop a flinch after just a few rounds fired offhand.
I'll bet it would leave a mark!
New Jersey firing a double broadside.
Best.
Just think, a salvo like that could supply enough powder to last us for many a year.
Cool, thanks for posting!
The U.S. North Carolina is just a few miles from where I set. A mighty ship she was.
Are you at the Naval base?
If you can get to Hiroshima check out the Kure Maritime Museum. They have a 1/10th scale of the Yamato, a Zero and a bunch of other stuff.
Sam06,
I am at the Naval base in Yokosuka. With all of the Covid crap going on over here, we are limited on where we can go. It doesn't seem to affect the locals. I went to Nagasaki 30 plus years ago when I was in the Navy. I wish I still had the books that I got when I went there.
