You have mentioned several times you have a pack of dogs. If you don't mind tell us about them. Got pictures?

It all started when I was a little kid. I read a dog book and there was a breed they called a lion dog, heck, what little kid wouldn't want a lion dog. At some point in those early years I made up my mind that one day I'd have a place in the country with a pack of Rhodesian Ridgebacks. Many years passed, then the day came. We had been married about a year and decided it was time for a dog, I picked up the classifieds, and there, about five ads down was an ad for Ridgebacks. There was a lot of discussion before I made the call because the puppies were $750, which was a lot of money for us at the time. Two weeks later I had my first lion dog,, that was 23 years ago, we named him Ridgley. We had filled out the proper paperwork and paid our pet deposit, two or three weeks later the apartment manager called and said the new owners did not want dogs on the premises and that if we had already gotten one we would have to get rid of it. By this time our lease was up and we were paying month to month. I called the manager and told her that this would be our last month. The next week we went out and bought our first house with a big fenced backyard, yes, we bought a house for our dog. A year later we brought home a second one. After a few years had passed and I decided I wanted to breed, our first two were not breed quality so that meant finding a new puppy. We brought home Addie, our first female. A year after we bought Hunter, our future breeding male. The next couple of years were quiet, then the third year came and we had our first litter of pups. Over the next 8 weeks we spent a lot of time with the pups and grew attached to two of them, we ended up keeping them. fast forward up to five years ago, we finally found our place in the country, and currently have a pack of nine. Our oldest is 13, and our youngest is 2. Unfortunately I lost most of my pictures when my computer crashed, but here are a couple.
Oh man, they are beautiful. Thanks for sharing this. We don't currently have any dogs, but have two young cats that are sisters. They are a hoot. Both my wife and I had dogs growing up and will forever have very wonderful memories of each. My favorite dog is German Shepherd followed by black labs, followed by any/all. Thanks again for sharing.
my brother has some puppies from his black lab and our Great Pyrenees Anatolian Shepherd cross
he is giving them away Joe or anyone else
your dogs Rhodesian Ridgebacks look similar to Black-mouth Curs
are they alot like them ?
Beautiful dogs, ridgleyart. I have to say that there's something about Hunter that grabbed my attention.
Good looking dogs.
Daniel, they do look similar except for the ridge of hair that runs down a Ridgrbacks back, they do have some of the same traits, but really that can be said of most dogs. The Ridgeback originated in Africa where they were bred for hunting lions, usually in packs, supposedly the only dog known that is able to hold a lion at bay and survive. Ridgebacks are kind of unique in that they are both a sight and scent dog, one of only two breeds with that ability. Addie and Hunter come from working stock, both of their parents were used for working cattle. We don't have livestock so I've never seen it in action, ours are all excellent on the blood trail, when I dove hunted every day of season I would lose lots of birds in the high weeds/brush below the pond damn so one day I brought Hunter and he took right to it, don't think l I ever lost another bird. To this day Hunter gets super excited when he hears the words "dead dove". I've seen them used for quail hunting, hog hunting and as search & rescue dogs. In reality they are capable of about any task you put them to. And you won;t be outrunning them as they are supposed to be able yo keep up with a running horse for a distance of 27 miles.
