I received them today. Will be curling up in my reading chair this evening with Baggy.

Starting in the evening is OK as long as you don't need the sleep!!! Great reading...

Yup. The opening of Baggy is like one potato chip.
When you start-in with Baggy you won't put it down until you finish.
You guys have convinced me to wait until tomorrow. I'll be sitting at the dealership getting my oil changed so I will have plenty of time on my hands. Have to be up tomorrow morning at 6 so I can get there on time, so, no staying up until midnight.
I have reread mine 3-4 times, gleaning a little more each time, and really enjoying it each time!
Started the book during the oil change and finished during the installation of my new tires.
WOW. An awesome read. Every man and woman on here that hasn't read it yet needs to quit forgetting to do it. Hie thee off to your nearest getting spot and pick up a copy.
Very thankful for the head's up to not start it last night. Now on to tome 2.
Hmm, I might just have to order the pair.
Mike Five Eight reads a bit slower; not because it isn't interesting or exciting- it's both, but it is more thoughtful. You'll finding yourself pausing and thinking...pondering is perhaps a better word, about the subject matter which you are reading.
There is nothing controversial in the book, but you are reading the first hand experiences (and opinions) of someone who was there and lived through it.
Both of Rocky's books should be required reading at USAF Academy.

Thanks, Susie and Mark, and all who have had such kind words.
Over several years I've loaned my copies of both books to several of my neighbors who were in country. When first suggested, all were skeptical. Told them, "Hey, whatever man, just try the first chapter. Give me a call and I'll come pick up if you don't like the reading". To a man, they all liked both books. One said, You know the dude was there when he talked about the smell. Another neighbor ordered both books after reading Baggy and sent to his brother living out of state.
Couldn't take all these great reviews any longer, just ordered the pair.
Serves ya right! LOL! I can promise you will not regret it.
If you squint your ears real hard...
Loved that line!
Books are supposed to be here today, had hoped UPS would be early, but it doesn't appear to be so.
I just received a sales report from my publisher and it seems that many recent sales have been through that huge website named after a South American river. I'm sorry I caught this after some of you already got them.
Folks, for many reasons, please order my books directly from the publisher. You'll save a crapton of money and you won't be supporting that other place. You can get print or ebooks. Go here:

Finished both Rocky, enjoyed them immensely. Lloaned them to a co-worker with your "warning"...apparently he didn't take it to heart and started reading late in the evening.
I ordered the pair this morning. My wife has all my books packed away for our impending move and I'm dyin' for a good read.
UPS didn't show yesterday, so I'm impatiently waiting today. Wish I had known about ordering from the publisher earlier.
I'm sorry about that. I have posted the publisher link in the past, and I am very reluctant to appear like I'm pushing book sales or I'd post it more often. I console myself with the assurance from others that they're worth even the inflated price, but still...
RR, I've taken care of that by posting a sticky for your books in the US Military Veteran Forum.
My being a lowly fan fiction writer makes your words "I just received a sales report from my publisher..." beyond my wildest dreams!
Your dreams may be tamer than you think, Mark. I used digital publishing which is open to anyone, and my monthly royalty checks only rarely are large enough for a dinner out. Most months they might buy me a combo meal.
That's most kind of you to post the sticky. I hope it saves people some bucks.
ridgleyart...did they ever come?
I remember one day when they got you a Buffalo burger.
But after reading them several times, the next time we dine, it will be a steak.

Rocky, yes they came, but I'm not starting them until the end of the week when it's supposed to be cold enough to keep me in the house.
Good. The way shipping has been lately, I was concerned.
In honor of the day that I arrived in Vietnam, I just mixed myself a Rusty Nail and will do a slow salute at sunset for all the men I left behind then and since.
My book character's name is an "in" joke. The FACs who patrolled the Ho Chi Minh Trail from bases in Thailand had the callsign Nail. Their hooch/bar was named the Nail Hole and their official unit drink was the Rusty Nail. In respect to them, I gave that name to my book alter ego.
We lost one FAC in 10 during that war, many of them Nails, and many never recovered. FACs were so hated by the NVA that we had a $10,000 bounty on our heads, a sum so large that no Vietnamese could even comprehend it. We flew alone and we died alone. It was a form of aerial warfare that is now extinct because it became unsurvivable. It is now considered to be the most challenging, most difficult, and most intense flying mission ever.
I'm maundering. Forgive me.
