Tax collection as a private seller

The more I read the less it makes sense. So I understand the list of gunbroker MPF states. So do I have to know their tax rates so I can add them to my message to the winning bidder? Make a mention that if they are in one of those states I will be adding there state’s tax?

Gunbroker automatically figures the sales tax and adds it to the invoice.
What about when they say they will remove the tax money from my account on file when the time comes.
As a private seller who doesn’t use gunbroker checkout.
They don't actually get the money when the buyer pays, you do. GB just adds it to your monthly invoice.
I just sold a rifle to a buyer in Maine. When the auction ended, Gubroker calculated the sales tax and listed in on the invoice.
If you sell an item for (say) $100 to a state where a 5% sales tax is applicable, Gun Broker will add $5 to the invoice. The seller will then send you the $100, plus the $5 in sales tax. Keep the five bucks because when GB bills you, that same $5 will be added to your fees.
That's the way that is is supposed to work. Questions beyond that, including, but not limited to:
What if...
What about...
How come...
are outside the scope of what is allowed to be discussed in these forums (Guideline #1) and must be answered by GB Customer service.
I’m sorry ridgleyart I’m really not a dumb person. So if I make sale to one of gb’s mpf state list, I am to look up that winning bidders tax rate and add it to his purchase. So purchase + tax+ shipping to be shown in message to bidder. The gb will eventually take it from my account on file
Thank you all , I get it
If you do not use the GunBroker.com immediate checkout process, you will need to add the sales tax for the GunBroker.com MPF States to your own checkout process and collect these amounts from your buyers in those states, because GunBroker.com will be billing and collecting these amounts from you.
So that being said it’s up to me to do the calculations
No, GB automatically calculates it for you, so you will just bill the buyer the amount that GB shows.
In many states there are taxes are not required between private individuals.
Contact seller for payment and avoid GB checkout. Problem fixed.
