Artificially Driving Up Prices?!?!?!?

Has anyone else noticed this? See the attached image. Clearly the same user is repeatedly outbidding himself. Is this not clearly a situation where this person is trying to drive up the price of an item? I cannot imagine any other reason a person would outbid themselves repeatedly. Is there something I am missing here? I am wondering if there is some unethical activity going on behind the scenes in the bidding process. I am sure there is nothing that can be done about it, but this just does not seem right.

If you bid and don't get high bid, they bid again and again. Until they get the high bid or give up

He is not bidding against himself, he's bidding against c***t.
Why yes, there is something you're missing. It's called proxy bidding. As was pointed out up above, the multiple bids by the same bidder are because someone has a proxy bid higher than he has bid, so he keeps putting in bids. No slight of hand going on here. Proxy bidding....look up the definition on the auction side.
