New addition to the fold - Update
Female friend took the NRA Basic Pistol class last Summer. Two weeks ago she experienced firing a handgun for the first time under my watchful gaze. Wasn't fond of the 38+Ps and we never got to the 357 part of the program, but after starting with a 22 revolver and then a S&W Mdl 14 in 38 spl, she ended up with a S&W Model 60-10.
Today, she purchased her first handgun. More range time scheduled for next Friday. Hopefully the new acquisition will arrive by then.
I'm going to have to dig into my 38 stash to keep her Lady Smith fed.
It's said there are 300, 000, 000 firearms owners in the US. Now there's at least one more. If the volume of CPL students at the local range are any indication, there are many, many more.
UPDATE: Spent some time at the range with this new shooter today. No 38 ammo to be had (but a kind and generous GB member is sending so 38 ammo my way for the new shooter) so we resorted to a 22 target revolver (22/32 kit - Model 35) and a 22 High Standard target semi. First introduction to the world of semi-autos. Good thing too, since her new Ruger won't be showing up in time for her CPL class on Tuesday, she is renting a S&W Victory 22. She and her husband managed to burn through 200 rounds of 22. Not bad for their 2nd time behind the trigger.

.38 Revolver was a good choice.
My youngest daughter shot my 60-10 so well it went home with her. I miss that gun.
Man............when I first took my daughter out shooting (14 yo) I thought she would be good to start with a .22 pistol and an AR...................by the end of the day (first day she had ever shot any firearm) she quickly dissed the .22 pistol, went to 9mm, shined with the AR (5.56) and then fell in love with my friends' longslide Glock 40 in 10mm. She also got to fire a .458 SOCOM in the AR platform and then a PTR 91. She picked up really quick and is a natural. She picked up on clay pigeon shooting pretty quickly too. She is amazing.
Good job brother...Great pictures!!! My daughter and son shot their first p-dogs at age 5...They sure like to burn up PaPa's ammo...

congrats on a new gun owner and shooter I wish her well
'I hate to admit it but I have noticed girls women seem to pick up shooting a bit faster than most guys
maybe because they are more open to learning and us fellows know it all already LOL
I'd take my daughter shooting when she was young and she got good enough she can shoot a card in half with a .22 and this card is hanging from a clothespin and moving in the breeze.
She married a firearms and personal defense instructor, and by God she's a great shot now. Far better than I am.
Nice Choice. Wife just acquired a 60-3 Lady Smith in box 1990 model .
Youngest daughter went from 22 to 45. Now has a 1911. Glad I had a dillen to keep it fed.
