How many of you believe you have a guardian Angel??

dreherdreher Member Posts: 8,893 ✭✭✭✭

Have you ever seen this Angel??

Why do you believe you have a Guardian Angel??

I have a Guardian Angel. No question about it. No, I have never seen this Angel but I know I have a Guardian Angel. It is simple mathematical probability. The number of truly stupid things I have done and somehow survived defies all logical explanation. Why the good Lord didn't cancel my ticket 50 years ago I don't know but my Guardian Angel deserves a long vacation when I kick the bucket.

My list is endless. Cars, trucks, motorcycles, cliffs, rivers, lakes, boats, canoes, alcohol, machinery, big mean animals, often two or three of these things at the same time, the list of the ways I tried to kill myself are endless. A big thank you to my Guardian Angel. Maybe someday I will get to meet you!!

MIne has worked overtime . At age 4 I stabbed myself in the right eye with a paring knife . 4 weeks in bed , sedated and flat on my back . Healed up with no loss of sight . Age 6 , mysterious fever for almost two weeks in hospital . Temps in excess of 105 . No lasting problem. Not to mention all the stupid stuff done on horseback and hotrods and motorcycle

Maybe, I've been shot at, numerous wrecks I probably shouldn't have walked away from, all the stupid stunts from college, and of course all the armed poachers I have confronted over the years.

I have never seen an angel. But I do believe we do have our own guardian angel.

Without one I wold have been gone long ago.

The Book says we entertain angles unaware.

  • badchrisbadchris Member Posts: 1,676 ✭✭✭

I absolutely do, but apparently it’s not my time to see it yet. I hope to keep it that way for a little longer.

I do have a guardian angel. She "talks" to me over my right shoulder. I don't hear actual words it is more like messages in thought.

She has helped me quite a bit over the years.

    Guardian angels are for real.

FOR SURE, I've had the hair stand up on the back of my neck more that once for 'no' reason.....only to find out later there was a VERY real reason.

  • mohawk600mohawk600 Member Posts: 5,529 ✭✭✭✭

Yes, I believe that I do, simply because of Scripture.............plus, I have engaged in enough risky activities and survived them all to this point, that..........there is no doubt. Never have seen my guardian angel though.

I think i have the classic good / evil one on each shoulder when younger the bad seemed to over ride the good decisions more often like most of you I can recall many times in my life I thought this is, ( hope I have on clean underwear after they find me LOL ) . only to live another day but like most of you, I have had friends and family when there guarding angel must have been on a break and they did not make it .

  • victorj19victorj19 Member Posts: 3,642 ✭✭✭

Absolutely. I call him Peter and don't thank him often enough for all he has done for me on a daily basis as I thank my Lord. As someone else said, I hope to meet him and my Lord some day.

Other than mine does not have a gender, this ^^^ mine "talks" to me.

Saved my life many times, along with small everyday stuff.

When we were in junior high school my dad was part of the Lions club. We were all down at Bird Creek for a big salmon fishing contest and my mom was flipping burgers selling them from the club trailer. We were bored so me, my brother and sister had wandered out onto the mud flats along Turnagain Arm. Awhile later my mom heard a man ask "where are your kids?" and she gave some answer and asked what kind of burger he wanted, without turning around. He asked again "where are your kids?" and she got a little annoyed at him. Again without looking up she said "They're out by the ocean, what kind of burger do you want?" He replied "Go get them". She thought to herself what kind of a pushy creep is this? Does he work for the Fish and Game? And he interrupted her train of thought and said really loud "GO GET YOUR KIDS". She stopped cooking, all irritated, turned around and there was nobody there. She looked out the front of the trailer and could barely make us out, we were so far from shore on the mud flats. So she closed up and walked over to the edge of the shore where the rocks are, and hollered at us to come back. We couldn't hear her, so we kept messing around and she started hollering louder. Then she looked down the Arm toward Cook Inlet, and there was a bore tide coming. That's where you have a massive low tide (ours are in the 37-40 foot range) and all the seawater kind of backs up out in the Inlet, until the Moon's gravity takes over and that wall of water comes rushing back in all at once. It was coming, and it was a monster. Mom started screaming at us and I think my sister finally heard her. She turned and looked and saw mom gesturing and hollering. We all sighed and rolled our eyes like "Great, we have to go back in" and then we heard rumbling. We were walking back to shore, mom was getting more and more hysterical, then we looked and saw the bore tide coming. It was crashing along the shore throwing drift logs in the air, foaming at the lip, and we took off running. We were just kids but we ran our hearts out and we almost got to shore as the bore went past, throwing a wave over us and crashing us onto the rocks. We held on and mom was going out of her mind screaming.

None of us were really church goers then, we "went" but it was all just going through the motions. It wasn't until years later that mom told us about the man's voice that she heard clear as day, telling her to GO GET YOUR KIDS, and there was nobody there. If she hadn't dropped everything and ran when she heard it, I wouldn't be here today.

Angels? Yeah they're real. When my dad died we had a small service in a small midwestern church, maybe 30-40 people came. At the end they played his favorite hymn and we sang along. I was in the front row, and I was astounded at the harmonies the people behind me were singing, the contrapoint and structure... it made the hairs on my arms stand up. I've been in lots of performing musical groups and I thought "who ARE these people? Simple farmers don't sing like this." After it was all over my mom had such a look of peace on her face. She asked "did you hear them?" and I asked "who?" She said "the angels came, and sang with us that last hymn". I believe she was right.

YUP! I definitely have one. Never seen but have felt the angel's touch on my shoulder.

I was once on my way to work and was stopped first in line at a traffic light. The light turned green and I began to hit the gas to go. There was a car behind me and they hit their horn to make me move faster. I suddenly felt this hand on my shoulder causing me to hesitate. Those very few seconds seemed much longer as the guy behind me kept his horn a blowing. Suddenly a cement mixer races through the red light to my left hell bent for leather!

I didn't see it coming and if I would have done the usual it would have been it for me to be sure. I suppose the nagging horn blower behind me may have just learned a bit about patience that day as well! I remember getting to work that morning and just sitting in the parking lot for a spell. Thinking about the mysterious hand that pressed lightly on my shoulder at that moment.

Not just guardian angels but I believe angels do walk among us.

I think at times we are being tested. I was in the checkout line at a grocery store once and was putting my stuff on the conveyer belt when this very finely dressed older gentleman started up a conversation with me. He appeared to be very well to do as my first impressions from a glance could judge such a thing. He talked to me about how nice the weather was outside and if I was enjoying the beautiful sunshine. I politely agreed with him and said how much I liked Spring over Winter.

As we spoke of basic friendly banter the fellow, who only had a single loaf of French bread he was buying kept putting his bread across the line into my pile of groceries. I would say a few friendly words and put his bread back on his side of the line. Must have kept it up 2 or 3 times when the gentleman picked up his bread and went to another check out.

As I loaded all of my stuff into my car I had another one of those moments of pause. It just hit me like a brick. Here I was, fortunate in so many ways as to never have worry for simple provisions and such. Just made a judgement on a stranger and withheld paying for a simple 2 dollar loaf of bread!

I know most would not have given any thought whatsoever regarding this ordinary experience and I too most any other time would have been the same. For some reason a spark inside me lit up that day and let me know that I had just failed a very important test.

Let brotherly love continue. 2Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. 3Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body. 4Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. 5Let your conversation be without covetousness; and becontent with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

I don't know about a guardian Angel but I do know that God has intervened in my life events through his Son paying the price I couldn't pay.

You know the old saying "thier are no Atheist in a Fox Hole" applies directly to me and my life.

Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

nanuq907: Your mom could actually hear the words, "Go get your kids."

With my angel I can't actually hear the words spoken, it is more like a thought that goes into my ear on the right side.

But the message is just like your mom's. I get about 4 words and that is it. No arguing with the angel and no explanations.

I might be driving down the interstate and I get the message "Take the next exit." And I will say out loud "No, I need to go another 90 miles and I am going then to get fuel and a hamburger."

And the message comes again "Take the next exit." No explanation, and no arguing.

So I take the next exit, and at the bottom of the ramp, I can see a wreck two miles ahead on the interstate and traffic is backed up for 2 miles. By taking that exit, I can get on a side road and detour the wreck. Just saved 2 hours sitting in a traffic jam. Things like this have happened to me many times. Sometimes rather mundane help from my angel, sometimes serious help.

My guardian angel has saved my life more than once.

Had a neighbor, he has passed on to the hereafter, pulled a big drunk and found hiself about 100 miles from home. Drunk as a skunk and out of gas and no money to by any.

He was sitting in his truck out in the woods where they were loading and hauling building stone from. Some here know the area in SWVa.

Darkness had settled in. A well dressed gentleman approached him and said you need to get home, your mother will not make it through the night. The man says you really need to leave as soon as possible. My neighbor pulled himself together enough to reply but he could not find the man anywhere.

Anyhu, he made the trip and got to within 100 feet of his mothers home and ran out of gas. His mother did pass.

My mom used to say, that I must have two of them.

  • yonsonyonson Member Posts: 952 ✭✭✭

Who says there is only one? Check out the description of the two angels on the cover of the Ark of the Covenant in the book of Exodus: every human has them, accompanying us throughout life (but not protecting us from everything). Not likely they would ever be visible.

  • yonsonyonson Member Posts: 952 ✭✭✭

I should have clarified that angels can appear in forms that would not scare people.

  • papernickerpapernicker Member Posts: 1,371 ✭✭✭

I was out in nowhere WV with a hot engine and all of a sudden there is a guy there, asking about my car and needing water. He says, maybe go over there and look. It was close but I couldn't see anything. Not sure if he found a bottle or something, or me, but there was a little stream. Then he was gone, at sometime later.

  • dreherdreher Member Posts: 8,893 ✭✭✭✭

"Would not scare people". The devil does not appear to you with horns, cloven hooves for feet, tail and red in color because you would run from him, be afraid of him. When the devil wants to talk you into something he will appear as a warm, kind person so you are not afraid of him as he tries to destroy your life.

    Satan has angles also.

Their job is deception at its finest.

Ever went in the woods before daylight to a hunting stand and you can almost feel the presence of a big bear.

The hair on your neck will stand up. Same effect when a higher power is near by.

Several little things have happened to me to make be believe someone is watching out for me. I've had a slow driver pin me down and came up on a wreck that might have involved me if I had gotten around them. I've woken up from a dead sleep and knew I needed to check on my oldest (the wild child) .....yes....she had slipped out a window. All kinds of times I've had "that was close" moments that were prevented by a little voice or action. When my time comes I plan on haunting my oldest....she deserves it.

When I was 4, I fell on the corner of a piece of sheet metal and it went into my throat. If it’d went in the thickness of a piece of paper farther, I would of been dead in less than a minute.

After my dad died, my sister and I took care of our grandma

She passed away 6 years ago this month

    It was 40 degrees.

As I was sitting there at the graveside service, I saw a honeybee.

My grandpa and dad both raised honey bees.

It flew right to her flower arrangement that we’d bought for the top of her casket.

I was fixated on that bee the whole service

It brought me a peace that I much needed

To my mind, no way a honey bee would be out and about and able to fly in February at 40 degrees, let alone find the only flowers for hundreds of miles.

We had some trees that were close to, and leaning over the house, and needed to be removed. Cost estimate was $1,000+ per tree (100+ year old trees) and there were multiple trees. At that price, and because no one else wanted to do it, we did. Rented a boom lift, not sure how high it went, it was the tallest one they had, and you had to use the outriggers. Knowing this was going to be a week long job (or more) I grabbed the Farm Boss and went to work.

Got a lot done the first couple of days, limbing some, cutting others down. Went out one day to cut a big one. It was a "bit" breezy out. They ( I use the term "they" because there must be more than one, and I never know which one it is. and I do not use gender because I have asked them, and they say they are not male or female, but some people are more comfortable listening to us if we present ourselves as male or female) said......"You are going to die today" I know that it does not take much of a breeze to move/twist a tree, but it wasn't "that" breezy, or at least I didn't think so. I can position the lift to avoid the falling tree....right?

I told the wife about what they had said. She is used to me being helped by the other side. (she has been too) I went ahead and starting to set things up, because "that" tree was my plan for the day. As I was preparing to get to work, AGAIN they said...."You are going to die today" a little louder. I was starting to get worried at this point, and AGAIN told the wife about what they had said. After the third warning, which was louder, she said, then why don't we limb those trees over there, instead of cutting this one. I have learned that you better listen to them when they talk to you, (I will relate why below) I said OK. AS SOON AS I said OK, they said....."OK you are NOT going to die today".

We limbed trees that day, and cut down the big one the next day. There was NO breeze.

    A time I learned, when I didn't listen.

I was cutting between the tabs on the lid of a 5 gallon bucket of paint, with a razor knife to get it open. They said "be careful" I said " I am being careful" and cut another tab. Again they said "be REALLY careful" again I said "I am being REALLY careful", and cut another tab. Next time they screamed at me, and I verbally yelled back that I was, (am I really verbally arguing with my guardian angels???} that was just before I cut the palm of my hand wide open and bled all over. Got the scar to prove it.

    One more.

Was cutting a small piece of wood on a radial arm saw. They told me that I should not be using that saw, and to use the band saw. I ignored them and promptly cut my thumb 90% off. Bone, nerves and all, just a small piece of skin holding it on. The Dr. said a few years ago we would not have been able to put it back on, but with the advances in medicine over the last few years, we are able to now. Have some screws and metal in my thumb. First thing I did when they cut me loose from the hospital, was go to the emergency entrance and stick my hand through the door to see if it would set off the metal detector. I didn't.

I have had lots of conversations with them and have learned to always listen to them.

Have you ever been driving and "something' told you to slow down. Then around the corner was an officer with his radar gun pointed right at you? Did you slow down? This happened to me the other day, but I was already slowing down because the speed limit drops there and I no longer drive like I am in a race car. He pulled the next car that came up the hill behind me over. Guess he didn't slow down.

Ever had the phone ring and you KNEW who was calling. Even though you had not talked to that person in years?

And for those who would ask. ( I have had some people ask before)

I have asked for the lottery numbers. They literally LAUGHED at me.

    I could write a book.

I think it is very near a miracle that any of us survive to adulthood, given the really great decisions we make as children and young adolescents. That said, I think all angels are myth and superstition. If you have one you are lucky at the very least.
