Paralyzed In NE Texas (Traffic, That Is!)

nunnnunn Forums Admins, Member, Moderator Posts: 36,085 ******

Everything around here is pretty well paralyzed. Looking at the D/FW traffic reports on television, there are very few vehicles on the highways. We have power, and food, and no need to leave the house, so we are not.

It'll be cold, and it'll be challenging for a few days, but it'll soon be over.

    Rhome Texas: "Sunny with a high of 13 °F (-10.6 °C). Winds NW at 12 to 14 mph (19.3 to 22.5 kph).Night - Clear. Winds variable at 3 to 11 mph (4.8 to 17.7 kph). The overnight low will be -1 °F (-18.3 °C)."

I'd guess looking out the widow about 3 inches of snow on the ground.... Not sure if I'll need to use the tractor or not, wife's car has front wheel drive and I think she will do fine going the couple of miles out to the county maintained roads when she goes to work this afternoon.

I've mad a number of trips when it's raining and traffic was always a mess, can't imagine how bad it is with snow.

Woke up to 7 degree temp this morning and now it is a balmy 13 degrees with the clouds breaking up a little and the sun trying to shine through them. Based on what I'm seeing in our back yard, we got about 6 inches although one unofficial report indicated the possibly of 9 inches in the area. We didn't lose power although the news reported that there were/are rolling blackouts happening. Based on the weather report, we may be hunkered down until Friday or Saturday.

If you can't feel the music; it's only pink noise!

Drove back and forth on I-35 to Minneapolis many winters. Drifts as big as a barn. Interstate closed because DOT couldn't keep up. Can do the driving if needed. Just don't want the occasion to arise.

Stocked up before it hit. #1 is a USPS supervisor 35 miles away. She had to go in to work today because of the Amazon contract. If it gets too bad I have secured a hotel room there so she can make a short drive on cleared streets.

They don't clear the roads out this far. We are a good bit off major roads. Still snowing with 10 inches predicted by tomorrow morning and up to 12 more inches Wednesday/Thursday.

11 degrees, 8" snow and still falling. Fireplace fired up, Have generator, K heaters and plenty of wood and fuel if needed. Yep, staying home is a good idea.

People below the Mason Dixon dont know how to drive in snow and ice. The further south you go the worse it becomes. Interstates closed and drivers stuck everywhere.

    Happy POTUS day.

My friends pool is becoming a block of ice. I don’t think that’s great for the pumps and pipes.😬

& intermittent power outages so he can’t keep the pumps moving water.
