So I wanted 1# of Lil' Gun

But no one had 1# bottles in stock, so I ended up with an 8# jug. I bought it to try loads in my .221 Fireball, but it will last forever loading .221, are there any other good uses for it?

There are dozens of rounds listed in reloading manuals for Lil'gun. It is a quite useful powder in many straight walled rifle cartridges and several that are shot in AR type rifles.
Still waiting on the reloading manuals I ordered to arrive.
The information is also available online for its uses which are many.
Thought that's where I was...🤣 Just thought I might get some personal experiences here.
I use it in 44 mag and hornet.
.410 loads is where I use it. 12-15 grs depending.
Thanks guys, sounds like I might have to buy a Hornet. 😀
300AAC
Wish I had a pound or 2 to go along with the 2K of 300AAC brass.
If you already have a 221 there is no reason to go backwards to a hornet. Sorry hornet fans...easier to reload , better case design , and more velocity.
Actually, both my pistol and rifle are k-hornets. I'll pass on that brutal kick from that fireball!😉
You can “wink” all you want but there’s only one place the hornet is better and thats in a TC where the rim is beneficial.
LilGun is in the general burn rate area of 110/296, AA1680, 2400, 4227 and a couple more, as a rather broad generalization. It is THE powder for Hornet.
Its really a great powder in the Hornet so it should be really good in a 221.
Works in all the hornet derivative cartridges. 44 mag, 450 Bushmaster, 30 Carbine, 6.8 SPC and others. I would think you could get it to work in some handgun cartridges too.
I have only used it in the 22 Hornet and K hornet.
Thanks for all the input guys. As for the Hornet, I realize that I don't need one, but I have lots of stuff I don't need. I'm hoping the Lil Gun will work in the .19 cal. that's on it's way to me.
What kind of .19 do you have? If its based on the 221 or Hornet it should be good.
BTW what did an 8# keg cost?
It's a .19 Badger, it;s a necked down .30 carbine, the lil gun was $180 from Powder Valley.
That should be fun. The lil gun should do fine in that sized case.
Is it a bolt gun or single shot? I have a 17 rem and its one of my favorite guns for varmints. I don't really hunt anymore but I do shoot varmints. I have used the 17 on a few beavers who tried to move in and dam my creek up. I cooked the beavers and fed them to my dogs, they loved them.
