A Long drive that kept getting better as we went............there is no place like home !!
We spent a few days out in the Indianapolis area helping our son and his lovely bride move into their first house in Fishers....Lots of work but they are in....Yesterday it started to snow and it snowed all day and through most of the night.....
This a.m. we let things settle down and headed out around 9 a.m. The total snow accumulation was just over 11 inches and our hotel parking lot was clogged with folks that thought their minivans and little toy SUV's and econboxes were going to pull a small hill out....The snow plow finally got them loose and we kicked the F150 into 4WD and headed out....the main interstates around the Indy area were snow covered and folks were in the ditch and sliding all over the place. We took our time and got out of the metro area and headed West towards Illinois.....the roads were still a mess through the Champaign/Urbana area. A gentleman in a step van flew around us and about 5 minutes later he was in the ditch and took a U-Haul truck with him....We started to stop but the ISP were right behind us so we stayed out of the way...finally near Springfield the roads opened up pretty well with the exception of some drifting and ice covered areas.
As we headed across MO, we noticed there was about 6" of snow in our area and I commented to my bride it was a good thing we had a shovel in the truck as we would likely be digging our way into the drive due to the wind and drifting.....It warmed our hearts to see out neighbor had been there and plowed our whole 140' of drive all the way to the garage and had even cleared around the doors....Good Neighbors are a true blessing... It is suppose to snow 2-3" tomorrow and get real cold,..I think I will stick close to home the rest of the week...
I hope you all are getting through all these fun snow events and weird weather in your area !!

Making life interesting around here. Trudging through snow up to my knees in some areas and bare ground in others. Powder snow that is drifting. It warmed up to 20 today with full sunshine. It put a crust on the snow. I let Shiggles outside this evening and she was walking on top of the snow.

Too bad it was in the evening. This would have made a great picture!

You were not too far from me.
Im an hour from CU and Springfield.
We got about 10”. And cold!
We know that that part of Illinois very well...my wife and son went to the U of I in C/U...I attended and was employed by EIU....I used to enjoy some great hunting and fishing in those days..
Sorry for the double tap
I’m about an hour from EIU also. 😃
Next time you are there buy them lunch at "Shapiro's". Just around the corner from the stadium. GREAT food.
