Snow is bringing out birds I've never seen in the yard. There are black birds with gold speckles hanging out. What surprised me was the woodpecker at the drive thru.

Red belly woodpecker.
When it snowed here a moth or so ago the birds were going nuts.
We got bluebirds, we only see them when it snows.
Yep with the cold in Texas this week, I've seen more birds all over my place, usually just see a few roadrunners and buzzards, now all kinds of birds, one tried to fly into the closed window earlier this morning, nice picture @susie.
I am amazed how our little feathered friends survive our harsh winter weather. Pretty sure many do not but I try to do my best to keep the feeders full. Especially when things get brutal like it has this past couple of weeks!
my groups of 100+ california quail, eurasian dove, sparrows, western magpies are going thru 40 lbs of wild bird seed and black sunflowers a week.
How cute!!! I love woodpeckers.
They're really lovely creatures when they stay in the trees!
We had a Western Flicker that used to hang out around our place and I swear that bird rode the short bus to school.
I was in the kitchen one afternoon and heard a gosh-awful hammering going on outside. Clang, clang, clang, clang, clang!
WTH? I walked outside and looked around.... Nuthin'. Back inside 5 minutes later and Clang, clang, clang, clang, clang!
I snuck back outside and hear Clang, clang, clang, clang, clang! coming from above. What the heck?? I look up and there's that stupid flicker sitting on the arm of the satellite dish just bangin' his brains out on the dish! LOL!
He finally gave up and flew off to the trees. A couple days later I came home and caught him excavating a hole in my wood siding. He's no longer with us...
Red bellied and it is a female.
With all the snow and cold we have we still have Doves coming to or sunflower seed feeder.
Cute until they start banging the side of your house trying to get at the boring bee larva.
Wood hens are the worst.
Fixed their little red wagon thought, wrapped everything in metal or vinyl.
