Rocky Raab's books
A few months ago Rocky sent me both "Baggy Zero Four" and "Mike Five Eight"..............so I found some reading time the other night during the blizzard and fired up my battery powered lantern and settled in to read a little. I started with "Baggy Zero Four" and intended to read for a few hours. Well, it turned into a cover to cover reading session. Rocky is an excellent writer and the book moves at a perfect pace. The characters are also great. The story develops and ends well and is very interesting as Vietnam era military 'fiction' (How much of it is fictional Rocky????😉). In short, it was a page turner.
If any of you have not read them.........I would highly recommend contacting Rocky and ordering them.......I haven't read "Mike Five Eight" yet, but I anticipate that it will be just as good or better.
Thanks for the great read Rocky! Are there more than these two?

Paraphrasing here for sure, but, "if the NCO tells you it is raining up, open your umbrella and stand in it!" I was rolling on the floor laughing at that one. Such was the education of new officers when finally out in the real world. NEVER question the NCO! @Rocky Raab I loved that line in your book. My wet behind the ears hubbie learned that lesson as a 1st LT when we were at FLW. The DI's and 1st SGT made sure he understood that lesson not soon after we arrived.
Failed to mention that I finished "Mike Five Eight" in two days instead of the one day "Baggy Zero Four" read. To be honest it wasn't because it was a slower read, its a longer book, lol.
Do they have a lot of pictures? I like pictures.
I ordered them, but haven;t had enough dedicated time to sit down and read them.
+1 I have them by my chair but as of yet, to start reading them ( a bit embarrassed to own up to it )
from the reviews even posted on here I have no doubt about how good his books are .
Still waiting on the P.O. to deliver mine...
You are all very kind. Thanks. "Baggy" is a bit more "fictional" and more stylized because it was written for a fiction contest. Everything in it happened, but one or two events involved somebody else. The ending and the hiatus back home is contrived. In truth, I went straight from LZ English (the real place name) to Ban Me Thuot. All character names are changed, and one or two were transported from other places and times. "Mike" is almost a diary of actual events except that many were left out to keep the book within limits for length. I did every bit of that.
Please do..............you will enjoy
Great writing sir............I hope you can put another book or two together.
