follow up on the Texas situation

So.........I live in Austin. We got an official 6.5 inches of snow. It shut the city down. I made it through the storm with power and water until Tues..........then then I went out to my car to dig out and see if anything was open. Realized I didn't have y wallet and when I went back to the apt to get it..........power was out.😐️ Went for about 60 hours without power.

I did go into work on Tues. We lost power at the store so the freezers and coolers went out of temp. We spent two days just emptying the shelves and vaults of everything and discarding it (because of liability). We have, to this point, filled 12 roll-off dumpsters with perishable items. It was a shame. A lot of it was still good, but we had to throw it out.

So we spent a few days cleaning and sanitizing the shelves and vaults. On Thurs, we opened to customers for dry goods and such.......they controlled the number of people at the door so it wasn't a mad house.

Today, we got a couple of vendor trucks with bread and water. Should get a couple more trucks tonight. Opening tomorrow from 8 am to 8 pm. It warmed up today and now the roads are pretty good.

I still have no water in my apartment, and it looks like a plumbing disaster for the whole city. Austin just is not prepared for this type of weather.

Fortunately............I have become more connected with my neighbors and they have been great. We have a little group that came together and cooked community meals on a grill. We hung out and made the best of it.

Today, everything is thawing...........so we are all good.
