Does anybody have any tales to tell about this subject since Remington has gone under, more or less?

I have a nephew that works at Remington in illion NY. I have a sister that lives just down the street from the factory. I’ve been shooting at the factory range on Mohawk hill. We boated a lot on the barge canal that goes thru the valley . I grew up just south of the Mohawk valley. Lots of stories.
Remington Arms and the Roundhill Group received their Manufacturing FFL in January. They are in the process of getting the maintenance staff up to speed before moving the manufacturing folks back into the plant. The current plan is to start making the 870 shotguns first with other arms to follow.
The United Mine Workers of America said it is still negotiating a modified collective bargaining agreement with Roundhill.
Best.
Hope they make it. A lot of history there.
They should move south to a gun state. No unfriendly government, no union.
THIS! ^^^^
Remington Arms was the largest employer in that part of the state, What has been the economic impact ?
I have lived most of my adult life in a town about 10 miles from the Ilion Plant. I haven't seen a huge economic impact from it, I hear of little things here and there, but it's not like there are huge soup kitchen lines over it... My coworker and her husband rent out their old home which is very close to the plant. Her tenant was a Remington worker, and he's now getting paid by the union to go back to college. (She says they are not paying the rent because of the governor's hold on eviction proceedings due to COVID, so that has had a bigger effect ). My company did some small projects for the plant in the past, but they weren't spending any money on the facility for quite some time. At the same time this happened, we've had some other big and great things happen, like CREE, that has seemingly made up for it.... I'm sure Remington was the largest employer in Ilion, but Ilion is a small town. There are other manufacturing plants within a few miles.. Special Metals, Homogenous Metals, Indium, Con Med, Fountainhead, just a name a few... I'm sure it has effected lives, but life goes on, and there are other opportunities.
