Only took 35 years to fill a 5 gallon jug...Wonder how much $$$ is in the dang thing??? 😁

Dimes = 20.4 #
Nickels = 24.0 #
Pennies = 95.8 #
And we did find an all copper 1969 quarter ...Still checking the quarters....PITA!!!

Got about 4 inches to go in mine.
Told the wife I would retire when it was full.
Don't collect much change now-a-days. Don't loafer as much as we use to years ago and I think she sneaks out a hand full occasionally.
Somewhere around 1,000.00+-
Enough for at least one new gun.
I just rolled all my change, I only had $250. My guesstimate is $2K.
And maybe 1/2 box ammo.
I say $12,349.76, what do I win???
Be sure to check dates on the silver coins - anything minted before 1965 is worth about 20 times face value as junk (melt) silver.
We emptied our jug and cashed it all in last year before we went to Alaska. I think we had close to 3,000 in it.
I checked mine, found couple!
With the amount of coins in there, it should take up most of his retirement time..... I'd guess there's $2200-$2500 in there..
We took ours to the grocery store as they had a coin counter. We didn’t have to roll any of it and it automatically sorted out the silver coins. Not expensive at all for them to count it.
Yeah...it's looking like a real pain in the butt...😲

When we took ours in, same size water jug it looks like, it was like $750ish but my wife says there was some random 5, 10, 20 dollar bills in there also. I thought it was more but she'd know better than me.

Don't try to move it. I've been down this road. My glass water bottle, like seen on company chilled water dispensers, was filled with coins after about 10 years. I didn't include quarters until the last couple of years. I ended up with about $1500. I found a phenolic tube available from McMaster-Carr in Chicago that was a very thin wall. The OD would slip into the neck but the ID was able to pass a quarter. I sucked it all out using a small shop vac. I would have broken the bottle if I would have tried to move it. I don't know what it weighed but it was probably heavier than I am.
Long time ago a customer brought a blob of melted metal to the Post Office and asked if I would weigh it. Turned out the blob was the remains of a 1/2 gallon jar of "old" quarters, nickels, and dimes. Another congealed glob was reportedly 100 +/- early 1900's silver dollars. At the time I thought to myself "What a waste". The owners didn't even bother to bring in the pounds and pounds of melted pennies. The "blobs" weren't worth 1/10th of what the nearly 100 year old coins would be valued at.
Maybe you could have just siphoned it into small jars....pretty amazing how much change can weigh.
I agree moving it will be no fun and I think some places have change counter machines now some charge a % and I have been told some will take a % for the service or give it all to you in a gift card to the place if you choose
we had a glass one many years ago but broke it , over the years we have had a few but went to the plastic water jugs a long time ago
we have one close to the top again . my wife call's it her vacation trip when she retires , but since we use the CC to buy 95% of every thing and on line and I retired no change really flows like it use too so very little gets added
about 8 years ago my youngest son and his GF were needing a few $$ so I dumped what we had not quit 1/2 full and said its yours I think it was about two hundred maybe three .
a few months ago I read about the big change shortage going on I looked at our water jug and thought how many like that are just sitting around across the country , and a no brainer no wonder the change shortage 😁
every year there is always a story(s) of some one taking in huge amounts of change at a tax collecting office and same old story they refuse to take it . so much for legal tender LOL
I had a vending machines for years and years.......and a gallon of JUST quarters is worth about $1k or so. I used an old 3 gallon cat litter bucket to dump them in. Of course, you could only fill it about 2/3 full, because it was just too damned heavy otherwise!
Always was a good time when I had to break out bucket #2, because things were so busy!
With pennies and such mixed in, you are looking at about $500-600 per gallon.

I have a large decorated glass decanter of about 3 gal. size full of old "wheat" pennies I used to collect. I rarely see them anymore and any change in general only comes from bottle and can returns I make at the grocery store.
The new made pennies are a joke along with those nickels that show a partial face of Jefferson.

Several years ago, I was in our small local bank and an elderly walked in pulling a wagon with Velveeta cheese boxes in it.
She had right at $9k of quarters rolled up in them. She was cashing them in and buying her a car.
So, have you retired now?
When I was in college, I worked for the university as a "Maytag Repairman" ...every two weeks part of my job was to collect the money from the machines... The university had 500 washers and dryers scattered around in the dorms so each collection was between 12 and 15K in quarters....My poor little VW was about dragging on the ground when I showed up at the bank....
