I don't know what Hobo is going on about, but it sounds like an insult from what I can tell....I'm tired, so I'll leave it be.
Ken mentioned that he understood the 10% fees and the listing fees, but didn't understand the final value fee. GB charges two types of fees with the way we do our auctions....the listing fee covers the thumbnail photo and the item being in the featured listings. We do that with everything we run and its only around $3 to have the little extras we add to the listings. The Final Value fee is what Gun Broker charges us when the auctions close. The FV fee is a sliding scale....you can find a link to it under "Fees and Services" if you want to check what fees might be charged for any figure and item might sell for. There are no magic figures, no markups for nonsense, nothing anyone cannot check and see is valid if they wanted. The thread these things are mentioned in doesn't actually mention me, but I'm the only person charging 10% that posts regularly here, so I could be wrong...but I don't see how. I'm available anytime anyone has any questions....no worries!

I will say I read it and can not say for sure if it was directed at you ,
I have never sold any thing thru you but the praises are obvious on what most think of you for your efforts and returns on there items form you selling for them . and also I think your photos are great not to mention your stories 😉
I will agree on one part any time you sell on your own if local of course your going to get all the money , no auction fees no fees to some one selling the item , that's just a common sense statement .
down side you may have 10 locals interested vs hundreds most likely thousands seeing you item listed and having some one selling with a good history always attracts more buyers obvious most think your efforts and your fees pay off I see a lot of return customers having you sell more of there items
Here’s what I see as the value in using a recognized seller like kasey or Ricci. ( you’re not quite Kasey status yet ricci !! Ha ha )
i listed a super clean g 27 with a leather holster and 2 Pearce extensions shipped in the factory box . It brought 475 .
kasey just sold same model for one of the forum members wo a holster and wo the Pearce .
Her auction brought 505.
thats due to her better photos and what we will call marketing .
the pros deserve to be paid and their sales reflect their professionalism .
Thanks Kasey. I in no way thought something untoward was taking place. Just a fee I couldnt figure out. I only asked it in that thread since Auction fees were being discussed, I figured I would throw the question out there - as I knew a Seller would be familiar with it and explain it.
I am happy with what my sold firearms have brought, and the Service you and your staff have rendered.

Kasey has sold several of my firearms. I couldn't be happier with the outcome. They provide a breakdown of the fees in an excel spreadsheet and I find it easy to follow. I would highly recommend using her. Many of my firearms brought ALOT more than what I thought they would sell for. Her service is well worth it!

10% sounds like a great deal to me, in auctions I've followed you seem to sell for a higher final price than auctions running same type items due to your following, auction detail or just magic :)
I was plum worn out when I saw Hobo's comment on that other thread and I was trying really hard to figure out a way not to be upset, but he infers that I have "special fees" and his "never again" comment was over the top. I didn't think you (Ken) were saying anything bad, but I wanted to clear up the fee question. The listing one is just for what is tacked on at the start that helps things stand out and the FV is based on what an item sells for.

Yeah, that cheap shot in the other thread was aimed at you, Kasey. No doubt about it.
This is an AUCTION site and you pays your money and you takes your chances. We have all seen items bring way over what we thought they should bring and that makes the seller ecstatic even with the fees subtracted from the profit. We also come on here and brag about the fantastic deal we just got when we win with a lower than normal bid. Subtract the fees from that and the seller isn't terribly happy. Simple research on the GB site explains the fees quite simply and if they come as a surprise that is the sellers fault. The track record of several of the sellers, Kasey especially, that post on here seems to be way above average. One of these days I will get my lazy derriere in gear and part with some of my meager collection. Should I list them myself and get lowball prices because of having no track record and then worry about payment and shipping? Nope, when the time comes I will avail myself of the services of an established seller that will have a chance of getting the best bids and handle all the headaches. Keep the faith Kasey, one of these days Judy and I may need to make a road trip to see you. 😉 Bob

do you charge a pickup fee when you make these road trips ? and if so how much ? i would assume you do to at least cover your travel expense
We just charge whatever the actual cost is....gas, lodging and whatever we are actually paying out to make the trip. I don't charge over what it actually costs. It makes things a lot easier when you have a large number of items and it ends up costing less than actually shipping. So far, I've not made any trips that were out West, but I would love to do that sometime.

If guns are sold through a local auction company, around here they charge 15 or 20%. Plus there are not as many buyers. If it is common items, they might bring a bit more than what they sell for on GB simply because of the sheer volume of common items on GB. However, if it is something a bit unusual or more collectible, the prices I see realized on GB is typically more than I think a local auction would bring.
Kasey has, and is, selling some for me and I always figure I will get about 86%, she will get 10% and GB will get approximately 4% of what the item sells for. I have no problem with that. If the GB sellers didn't make any money, then there would be no sellers on GB.
