Lee Case Trimmer question and 8mm die question

I use the Lee case trimmer that has the separate cutter and lock stud and the case length gauge is specific to the caliber. I was trimming 308 cases and could not get them trimmed any shorter than 2.012 when the books specify trim to 2.005. So I took the case gauge and hit the point with a sanding belt and took too much off. Now they trim down to 2.000. Will that cause any issues, having the cases trimmed a little too short?

Second question, can 8mm Remington dies be used to reload 8mm Mauser? Thanks!

    Second question first, no.

First question not really, unless you are shooting national match level benchrest.

Trim too lengths are usually .020 less than the max length. Unless you shoot hundreds or thousands of rounds and ring the chamber a bit too short is not an issue for most guns. The consistincy in length is more important in setting the bullet seating die.

The 8mm Remington Magnum and the 8mm Mauser are two entirely different cartridges and each requires their specific loading dies. I would think .005 short overall length to not cause any issues to reloads.
