I see you posting. How are you doing after the land slide?

Bump I would like to know also.
Bump for trawler
He just posted on the forums earlier this morning.
I know that is why I bumped it.
I'm doing fine. A local road builder built us a temporary road across the slide about a month ago, free of charge, that was allowed to be open for a week so we could get our vehicles and furniture out. He had to make a temporary driveway for me across a neighbors property as mine is full of trees, rocks, and debris. I was able to get all my property out except for the house itself and the fuel tanks. I mean everything, even appliances and the wood stove. Lots of neighbors helped and I used my jeep and a trailer to haul things out. I have rented a very nice small apartment in town that has a garage for storage. We have sold all our extra furniture, keeping only what we need. The President declared SE Alaska as a major disaster area. The State of Alaska is paying some of our rent so we are doing OK financially. The house is still in a mandatory evacuation area and the temporary road has been closed. I am retired and my wife works as a medical professional so we are doing better than most who were affected. The slide is being studied by a geology team and hopefully by Summer we will know if we can return to our home safely. I doubt that we will go back as the memory of our close call would make it hard to sleep on rainy nights. We feel fortunate to be alive. You may recall that two of our neighbors are missing. Thank you for your interest and concern. I'll update as things change. The picture above shows the excavator and the temporary road being built.
Good to hear that you're doing ok. Thanks for the update.
Glad to hear you were able to get in and out safely.
That bottom picture sure gives a perspective of the scale of the slide. I don’t think that I realized how large it was from your earlier pictures.
Good to hear there are places where people pull together like that!
Thanks for the update, and glad you're doing as well as circumstances will allow.
That’s a dang shame, trawler. Such a beautiful place. Glad you are doing ok.

Good luck and its good you got your stuff out and are doing OK.
Most folks are good folks. The neighbors helping and the road builder cutting the road are great especially with the threat from the grade being unstable. Good to hear from you, you and your wife are blessed to have come out of this the way you have and to have good people willing to help you.
