Just curious about the ability for GB Auctions to do this.

No complaints at all about the auction side or for that matter the forums either. It did take Kasey almost Six, yes, six whole days to mail me my winning bid item, six whole days AFTER I put the check in the mail mind you. 😁

When folks sign up to GB Auctions they have to post a CC that is pinged with a small refunded amount to assure the account is valid.

If that bidder becomes a NPB'er could GB Auction bill them for the auction fees against the account they registered with? It would take a huge burden off of the sellers and also ding the NPB'er for the turmoil they themselves caused. If there was a clause in the buyer agreements for this to happen then the CC company would have to stand behind the charge, no?

By Jove, I think he's got it!

Sounds like a very good idea, Bruce. Ding 'em for auction fees and an NPB penalty of 10% or so.

I think it's a great idea! You need to contact auction support with that idea.

It will go nowhere guys. All they have to do is dispute charge and say they didn't bid. IMO

It could certainly be done. My question is if I have a NPB for (say) $420- shipping and taxes included, after GB bills the NPB's card for that amount, how do I get paid? Does GB mail me a check less their fees? I don't want a credit, I want my money, and based on the current speed of dealing NPB refunds, it could take several weeks for GB to cut a check.

OR GB could ban them for say 12 months? Would have to setup a system for real disputes(but a temp ban would work until everything was hashed out). They have to use a real name and information. No one will receive their lost money or time, but eventually there will be less NPB!

Mark, my concern is for all concerned. You, as the seller, are not going to get paid for the auction, the item did not "sell". GB Auctions is going to get paid the fees they DESERVE for the listing, transaction complete or not. It is what costs GB Auctions money, the listing. The seller can relist the item without the mess created by the NPB'er support issue. The seller is out nothing except time. GB Auctions gets their money, ( that is the purpose of being an auction house) and the NPB'er makes GB Auctions whole, as they should.

Unless CC fine print excludes this type of "renege purchase for cause" charge and GB Auctions has a very well written clause to allow it, the NPB'er is going to pay. Mom's car breaking down is not a reason, it is an excuse.

To me unless the NPB'er and the seller agree the terms of the auction were not met, the buyer should pay the fees.

GB Auctions gets paid, keeping fees low, the NPB'er gets to pay for his transgression and the seller can relist the item which gains GB Auctions even more income from the item

NPB'er should be banned based upon length of service, a harsh score of completed auctions and communications with sellers in a reasonable manner. Once an auction is won it should be a binding contract with ramifications for either party not living up to their commitment.
