Just noticed on the auction side -"coming soon to GB- FFL required to complete checkout"

What does this mean? Will all sellers have to have or go through a FFL to sell here?

    Items being Discussed or Defined

    • Require an FFL to be selected upon check out. In order to properly calculate sales tax, the proper ship to location needs to be known when the tax is calculated and before payment is made.

The way I read that is that all firearms buyers will select an FFL from among those listed with GB before completing checkout. If the FFL is on file with GB, they'll charge the appropriate tax rate based on the FFL's location. If the buyer simply sends an FFL to the seller, GB will have no way of knowing the actual rate at the dealer's location and would most like charge the buyer their home states highest rate, even if not appropriate. Sales tax rates in Florida range from 6% to 8.5%. On a $1,000 purchase that can mean paying either $60 or $85, depending on where the gun is delivered. I'm going to guess that someone has already been charged the much higher tax rate and has made their displeasure known.

Are there any cases where the FFL's zip code isn't enough to identify the receiving dealer's location?

A dealer's premises address is where records are stored and business is conducted. The mailing address is just that- where you can pick up your mail. That can be a PO box are any other location, including somewhere in a different zip code than the premises address. Firearms can be sent to the dealer's mailing address, but business cannot be conducted there. Dealers can also have firearms shipped to any other location they please, but once again, no business can be conducted there. Yes, yes, I've heard protests from the rank and file stating that they'll never ship a gun anywhere except to the dealer's premises address. Fine, but it's still legal to do so. For the purpose of sales tax, the ZIP Code that matters is the premises address.

Once again, this is how I interpreted the "news flash."
