what was the reason for making forearms( Mannlicher style forstock) like this?

That's a pretty cool gun, and not something you see every day.

I hate to say this but that is ugly.

A lever action rifle has great lines and I think the Mannlicher style forend ruins it.

    Someone will like it though.

Not sure i'd call it "ugly" but it does seem like a waste of wood and hides the look of an octagon barrel imho.

Fugly!! 100% fugly!! I love the style of a lever gun, love the simple lines and really like octagon barrels. Is there any rifle that carries nicer than a lever gun?? Having said all these good things about lever guns, that lever gun is still fugly!!

A question was asked, "why put a Mannilicher on a firearm".

Someone please give a reasonable and useful answer. Inquiring minds need to know.

Yes, fuggly on a lever gun.

only thing I have found is that some mountainous folk thought it helped using the rifle for walking staff

I always heard ? the full length stocks were to help protect the barrel

Doc ( RIP ) seemed to have a fondness of such stocks posted more than a few of his rifles with that style other than looks he may have been a better source as to way

I did get a 10/22 rifle with one just because of Doc posting his photos I never liked them but his photos got me interested to at least get one

When you want to be Daniel Boone , with a lever...

Although always described as a cowboy, Roswellnative generally acts as a righter of wrongs or bodyguard of some sort, where he excels thanks to his resourcefulness and incredible gun prowesses.
