This could be a problem because of the Senate balance now. Schumer is present Majority Leader because the Veep is Democrat. lf she got a promotion, would her job be filled??

Yes, a new VP would be nominated and then must be confirmed by both houses of the Congress. Who that nominee might be is anyone's guess, but with 50-50 in the Senate, it would be risky (for the Dems) to make the nominee a Democratic senator. Nelson Rockefeller replaced Ford as VP. NR's confirmation hearings dragged on for months, but he was eventually conformed by a comfortable margin, despite both houses being controlled by the Democrats.

Scuhmer remains majority leader until the next senate elections in 2022, which may well alter the 50-50 tie. Harris, as VP, broke a tie in the Senate for majority leader. Her no longer being VP has no effect on a senate vote which was already held.
Unless there is a tie in the Senate, the political party in the White House does not affect Senate elections. During much of GW Bush's two terms, the Senate Majority leadership bounced back and forth between Trent Lott( R) and Tom Daschcle (D).
so if harris becomes president, would there be no one to break a tie vote in the senate? atleast untill a new VP is sworn in?? and could the republicans just keep tying all the votes so no one would be sworn in???

You misspelled "would" - - - and I believe the answer to that question is "NO, they would not do anything to obstruct the operation of the government (even if it was something they should do)."
Any legislation or confirmation must have a majority vote to pass- one vote is sufficient. A 50-50 tie in the Senate with no VP to break that tie means that the legislation fails to pass. Senate rules are different today than there were in 1974, so there are limits as how long the Republicans can delay the hearings and postpone committee votes. Nelson Rockefeller's confirmation dragged on for about four months, but it would harder now, especially with Schumer as Majority leader. Even so, Senate rules remains ponderous and everything moves slowly.
It would be interesting if Harris were to nominate one of her Democratic collogues for VP. In most (though not all) states, the governor of the Senator's home state selects his/her replacement to finish out the remainder of that senator's term (or until a special election is held). In all but three such states, there is no law which requires the governor to appoint a new senator of the same political party as the one being replaced.
I was in junior high school during the Watergate era and Nixon's resignation. This may unfold to be every bit as interesting!
