Recently picked up an old .22 on the grip cap of the gun is a square metal tag with the number "18" stamped on tag...just curious about what it might be for or why it is on there.. Thanks Ps...having trouble with the date code... W W S

Probably just a range inventory number.. like when high schools used to have basement rifle ranges and kids were taught gun safety and how to shoot.
