My phone does not have a Radar detector ... that I know of.

Very cool....I used to love Radio Shack...I enjoyed building speakers or refurbing them...I could always find what I needed there or they had a way to get it...

Is Radio Shack even around anymore? We used to have two in town. One closed about 20 years ago, and the last one about 6-7-8? years ago.

I remember we bought one of the early vhs players at the time only one small family owned appliance store had any rental videos but at the time it was "all new " we bought a VHS camera not long after I recall some crazy price five or six hundred dollars .

I use to visit radio shack pick up resistors transistors and related items for repair projects . even my first "add on" 8 track for my 1st car 65 mustang came from there , I think it was just a basic no frills and was about 49.00 and a amp for it a whole 50 watt but at the time a radio put out about 12 to 15 so I was cool with a whopping 50 amps and realistic ? radio shack speakers .

there is still a video store in town family video it was a block buster at one time I have not been there for many years but there still open and see customers when I drive by on occasion

I remember many moons ago stopping by on a Friday and picking up movies for the weekend sure seems like a lifetime ago now .

but as noted a cell phone is truly amazing to a old fellow like me mine does so much I have no idea what or how to use it and its out dated by 6 or 7 years LOL

Was a Radio Shack customer 1967 - mid 90s in 3 states. They always had what you needed in the way of obscure parts.

For a long time they were the only source of vacuum tubes and had testers in the store.

The last two stores, I frequented were like Cheers ... Everyone knew my name. Nice folks and true customer service !

RS helped me resurrect many antique TVs, radios, tape decks, cameras and stereos. The old techs would freely

share their years of knowledge too ! > Very sorry to see them go.

There is more computing power in your cell phone than NASA had when they put the first men on the moon. Kinda puts manual type writers in the stone age.

I still have that same 10 channel scanner seen in the ad pics. The antenna broke off a few years ago but I matched a drill bit into the tube and pieced it back together. I only use it to check the weather.

My favorite memories of Radio Shack are shopping there during the Christmas holidays for my growing boys. For the times, they had some pretty cool electronic toys that were found no where else on the planet!

In 1979 my brother bought a VHS video camcorder. It cost $1500. The first few tapes he bought were around $50 each. I remember at the time they said they would last for 30+ years; they are still watchable today.

It is odd that things which are so novel and expensive can become obsolete, worthless dinosaurs very rapidly in the electronics world. I am glad guns are not that way.

But they are! You might as well send me all your old worthless Colts and Winchesters.😊

Collectible Winnies, Colts etc., are quickly going the way of the Dodo! 20 years max in my opinion. The young people don't "collect" things like we did. Society has screwed up the young adults and made them anti gun.

One of my grandsons, a 16 yo, good kid! One of the better wrestlers here in SC. We all know a good wrestler has a set on him and you know he's tough. So we go out shooting. We started with a 10-22. He did good. I than handed a Single Six to him. He was so scared he almost dropped it. He was shivering and trembling. I don't know how you fight that type of societal indoctrination.

The part that makes me mad is we did this to ourselves.

FYI: Colts and Winchesters make excellent crab trap weights ! 😆

With a Radio Shack 555 timer and various resistors/capacitors/transistors you could build any electronic circuit.

Remember the bins full of resistors, capacitors, and transistors well, lots of projects started with Radio Shack.

Talking about what our kids are into when it comes to collectables, I recently got a call from my youngest son. He is 33 years old and was wondering if by any chance I might still have his old stash of Poky man.....oh crap, I had to look up what it was he was talking about! Poke'mon cards! 😲

There are still some privately owned Radio Shacks, I visited one in Nashville, IL last fall.
