Shotgun slug crimp

Other than not being able to see there's a slug in the shell, are there any other reasons to not use a folded crimp over a (reload) slug?

A folded crimp will work but it is not as strong as a rolled crimp. Recoil from the first shot could cause the crimp to open in the shell in the other barrel or in the magazine. The same way a hard kicking handgun round can cause uncrimped bullets to move forward in their cases. I would stick with the rolled crimp. Bob

If you're using a rifled barrel, I wonder if some of the hull could come between the slug and the rifling causing some pressure issues. A roll crimp is much shorter. Just a thought.

A roll crimp seems as though it may be the solution to the problem I had reloading those $@(* plastic shells. I gave up reloading after I wore out all the paper shells I had. I could not get the crimp to hold with the $@(* plastic shells. The problem is it the videos I saw look like it is a very slow process & wouldn't work with any progressive press.

Thank you all. I had not thought about the slug creeping out of the cartridge. I had thought about the folds getting to the rifling and perhaps causing a pressure problem. Keeping those considerations in mind.
