What info is really needed to sell on gunbroker

otis43otis43 Member Posts: 1

This question is really for the private people that sell on gunbroker. Gun broker states that they want a copy of you drivers license and utility bill. Is this really necessary. They also want you bank account info and I understand that because that is how they will get their fees. It seems like a lot of personnel info I would be sending out. Also it's not clear how you would get that info to them. Email, fax?

I think that GB management has a big job, making users happy while, at the same time, complying with new legal requirements. Remember, there are many liberal trolls out there who think that disrupting firearms sales is good sport.

I am a shooter & a collector, & have bought & sold guns here for over 15 years. My interests change over the years, &, like many others, I want to try new things. I haven't found requirements onerous, although the new federal requirement that internet merchants must collect state & local taxes is quite annoying. But, there's no way that GB can do that without collecting data on all buyers, so that they know where to send money that is collected.

The alternatives are not pleasant. Sell your guns by renting a $200 table at a gun show? Ad in the local newspapers & then you have to allow strangers into your home? Sell to a local gun shop for 50% of the value?

I'm glad to see that you are asking questions first. Start by selling inexpensive items to establish who you are. Treat buyers with respect & they will leave good feedback for you, which will help when you list more expensive items. Good luck.
