Am I correct that .22WMR should not be fired in a .22WRF chambered rifle?
Comments
First of all it should not fit correctly, second do not attempt to chamber a 22 mag in this rifle, it is not compatible and possibly dangerous to do so .
So you are correct and don't do it.
Hopefully the bidders know the difference.
Be careful. I have come across several old rifles chambered for .22 WRF that some Bubba had lengthened the chamber so that a .22 WMR fits.
Magnums will not chamber in my 1890 .22 WRF because they are a little too large in diameter.
I believe that the difference between .22 WRF and .22WMR is length, not diameter.
Same as long vs. long rifle.. What is the barrel stamped?
.22WRF is shorter, and far less chamber pressure. Remington loaded it with a round nose bullet vs the Winchester flat nose, and re-named it the .22 Remington Special.
