Sleeping.....going over the edge into some crazy nonsense trying to get the "best" sleep possible
Ok....so, I just about killed myself with my nasty humidifier without knowing it was nasty. I thought I had allergies, but it turns out I wasn't properly cleaning the thing blowing water at my face every night. (Lesson learned)
With my humidifier being out of use I found myself trying all kinds of cray new things that are "sleep enhancing" things. So, I got a stand to hold my Ipad beside my bed so I can watch it and shove it out of the way when I don't want it right there in my face.....playing ASMR videos
On top of this I have ordered something called a chilisleep system....that is a mat that circulates cool water under a mat on your mattress.
I've also gone as far as to order a sleep mask that has earphones that will cover my eyes and let me hear the creepy whispering things that put me in some crazy coma.....this one is super freaky!
I've done so much ordering lately that I'm getting strange ads.....the mattress for fat people was a sting to see pop up.....but hey, algorithms are what they are.

I use a BIPAP faithfully, even for a nap. It has a humidifier built in that uses distilled water. I bought into the SOCLEAN system, and it actually WORKS! Before that, I had to wash and sanitize my mask, hose, and water vessel every day. What a pain!
As far as getting to sleep, I make the room completely dark, put on the mask, and MAKE myself relax, breathe slowly and regularly for about 10 minutes, then get up and shoot about three fingers of good Bourbon down, then go to sleep! 😎
Those are the two craziest videos I’ve ever watched at all on the internet! WTF over!
Years ago I had sleep problems and was told by an elder to sleep with my head situated to the South and my feet to the North, (remember the rules of gravity 😊)......it works and it's free. I can definetly tell the difference when I stay in Hotels or at friends-family homes when the beds not pointing North/South.
"Never do wrong to make a friend----or to keep one".....Robert E. Lee
Crazy as ever...glad it works for you.
Miller Lite solved my sleep problems decades ago. 😋
agree that some strange video's your watching / listening too , but if it works good for you
I have tinnitus ( bad ) so at night I run a fan and also started listing to my favorite old music from the 60 70 80's but also there is just you tube back ground sleeping noise ( lots of different ones ) some with black screen so I use a laptop set up on my night stand and find one that I am good with and let it go some have 6 to 8 hour run times mostly the ones I listen too have rain / thunder storm as the basic with maybe some very light low key music added in that and the fan help cover the buzzing in my ears .
my wife use to listen to Bob Ross ( the painter ) he had a very mellow calming voice that put her to sleep last several + years I think she tunes in some different crafting post on you tube ( she loves to do crafting projects as her sister also ) she brings them up on her tablet on her night stand and lets them play in the back ground ( I really not sure she may still listen to Bob R. some times ) her room is down stairs mine is up . I just know she has it on .. I think she does it to drown out my noise as I stay up late 😮
Those are the weirdest videos I have ever seen. The guy with the blue gloves gives me the willy's I would be having nightmares watching that at night.
I have tried just about everything t get a good nights sleep and it hasn't worked very well. Late night drinking is about the best. If I sleep more than 45 min at a time its a win for me. My problem is my brain never shuts down.
The videos are VERY odd to say the least....but its not whats on the video as much as the faint little noise that you can barely discern what is going on. If you have the volume set where you can hear it, but not watching it this makes my brain stop thinking about ALL of the nonsense I'm dealing with. Instead I'm trying to sort out what is going on there and next thing you know I'm out like a light. Laying there I'm giving myself a long list of work to do and feeling VERY overwhelmed by all the things I didn't do that day.....but then I hear some clicky voice barely say something and I'm trying my darndest to sort out what they said and it helps.
"Did she just say beard moisturizer?" ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz
I had no idea that we had so many aluminum foil hat wearers on this forum!
Sounds like you are making progress finding a solution that works for you.
Some experts recommend that you turn off your computer & TV at least 1 hour before you go to bed.
I find that I need to maintain relative humidity in the 30-40% range. I saw this ad on GB:
I have not dealt with this seller, but, at this price, it seems hard to go wrong.
I got tired of hauling distilled water from the store, so I use tap water; downside, I have to clean my humidifier every couple of weeks with vinegar.

Ready to get the good night's sleep you've been dreaming about?
Shop Big Fig Mattress now, and start sleeping more soundly than ever before.
Designed to provide comfort for plus-size figures, this is the kind of sleep you've always wanted.
Here's the big-gal mattress I'm getting ads for now......why???? What gave them the hint I was "hefty" by ordering a sleep headphone set, sparkly steering wheel cover, chili sleep system......not that they are wrong, but still???
Kasey, I have been using a ZMA supplement for several years and it really let's, not makes me sleep. I used to toss and turn now I sleep much more soundly.
ZMA is a popular supplement that typically contains the following:
That said, consuming more zinc, magnesium, and vitamin B6 may provide many other benefits, such as improved immunity, blood sugar control, and mood. This especially applies if you’re deficient in one or more of the aforementioned nutrients.
Read this article and decide for yourself. It may help and I don't think it can hurt. ZMA Supplements: Benefits, Side Effects, and Dosage (healthline.com) I use this brand that I get from Amazon.
Carol, the lady that does our logging in and out, swears by magnesium.....she's been after me to take it for a while now. I'll have to give this a try. I'm sure I'm deficient in just about everything imaginable with my diet and such.
What about 5mg of Melotonin ?
My brother uses melatonin....it helps me somewhat. He has the gummy chews from that vitamin chain store in all the malls. I've taken it before and didn't really see a major change in how I fall asleep. My main issue is my wandering mind more than anything.
Maybe you should get a My Pillow.
Amen brother...

I tell my wife nightly sex would help her to get to sleep, but from the looks I get I am pretty sure we aren't gonna find out anytime soon................. you may ask larry
Maybe if you explained it didn't always have to be with you????
Larry used to do this crazy shower routine in his sleep. It was the funniest thing.....he'd be laying there and then his arms would shoot straight up into the air and he'd start moving his hands around like he was getting a shower. I just KNEW his arms were going to slam down and hit me any minute every time it happened.....I'd start scooching down into the covers and hide my head the best I could. After a while I noticed he stopped breathing at times, so I'd punch him. He'd wake up and I'd tell him what happened. He would complain that I needed to just let him die in his sleep rather than punch him, eventually he got the sleep study done and now he's in LOVE with his Cpap thing. He can strap that thing on and he's out like a light in no time.
I have Alexa play the meditation station for me and I'm out like a light.
I used to lay in the bed with thoughts running circles in my head. What did I get done, what do I need to get done, when can I get it done, where did God come from, where does the universe end, does it end, how can it not end, if it does end, what is beyond it.........
I try to recreate what the old timers did in math to come up with their breakthroughs. They were working from a blank sheet of paper, least I can do is figure out their train of thought right?
I was stuck in a never ending procedure at the dentist and figured out how to get from the Pythagorean Theorem to the Trig Identity "Sin^2 + Cos^2 = 1"
Now I'm working on Fourier Transforms. I can lie there and start visualizing it, start down the rabbit trail and ZONK.
no need Ricci, the mere mention gives her a headache, then a couple tylenol pm for headache and she is out like a light...........
You may be operating on a plane a notch or two above most of the rest of us...
I could not even spell it much less solve it 😗
Well heck, it didn't work last night. I was lying there thinking all kinds of mathly thoughts and no ZONK.
So I checked the cupboard for my latest purchase, a selection of Wal-Mart's Top Ten wines.
I settled on the Peanut Noir, big glass of that over ice and ZONK.
Headaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaache!!!! 😝
LF, the things you're using to help you sleep would keep me up all night. WTH, over?
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
All I do is put the TV on a channel like MeTV, Quest, PBS, Court Tv, or some such non-sense and let it drone me to sleep. No cable here.
I had the movie Moneyball recorded for just that purpose.....nothing at all more boring that watching Brad Pitt drive around in a pickup truck "thinking" about baseball.
30 minutes before bed, glass of wine. Then go gather up our miniature girl cat, go climb in the bed. Little girl is a lot better than some folks I have slept with. She wipes her feet before bed, snores very gently, does not steal the covers. Listening to kitty snores and an occasional quiet purr- better than morphine.
