In our godson's backpack.
What do you think?
It's mine now.

I think you have a problem.
it looks darn real , is it ? either way that would get a kid in trouble
Sooo, is it real?(looks real but I have no glock to compare). How old is he? Where was he taking it? Too many unanswered questions.
Doesn't look good on the face of it, but maybe he has a good reason.
Umarex BB gun. Looks real enough to get oneself shot.
You (and I'm sure you already know this) need to have a good long talk with that lad.
yeah.. that may be a fun plinking bb/pellet gun but it could also get someone in deep doo-doo fast.
If someone pulled that on me they would get drilled.
fooled me I would not have recognized it as a BB gun
Yep, same here. Why does it say Glock on it?
how old is he and did his parents buy it for him ? and of course what's it in his book bag for
I would be concerned also
a lot of air soft guns look and even have the weight of a real gun but that's what's make them so popular and sell .
yes if a LEO or well really any one not knowing and see it who ever is holding it could be in a world of hurt if that other person only has seconds to make a decision . and yes people have been shot while holding one on that side not a great toy for a young kid to have and make a bad decision , there not really a toy in the old sense of the word . and can hurt if hit by one more like a bb gun
flip side if I was a young fellow back in the days of playing ( with cap guns back then ) I would want to have a realistic air soft gun to use . my youngest son had a ar-15 version he was in his 20's at the time thought it looked and felt like the real deal unless you really looked close . he traded it off but I was impressed how realistic it was .
but think back when we were kids cap pistols were made to look like real guns from a distance some did look real but manufacturing and production methods and basically cost in making one that real looking would have been too high to sell at the time that's prevented them for looking as real as the air soft guns now but they did look close enough some kids were shot while using them also
different times and different views on any gun real or air soft . a neighbor or some one sees its or worse taken to school some one calls the police . they show up see the gun and go into a defense mode it would be easy for the kid to be shot
David when you were on duty I am sure you had or maybe run across some similar concern ?

It's officially licensed by Glock.

Careful Nunn - you could put your eye out with that thing!
But seriously, I think maybe some careful explaining about how he could get his butt shot off is in order. Bob
Book bags and pistols makes for bad Ju Ju regardless of intent 😮
"Never do wrong to make a friend----or to keep one".....Robert E. Lee
no matter what, that BB gun will find its way to school to show his buddies, impress some girlies, or threaten some bullies. i Gar-on-tee
List that thing on Gunbroker. You will get a lot of questions how many rds has been thru it and do you have the box. A serious bidding war when they think it is real. Just add free shipping and 500 rds of ammo included.
I had forgot all about air soft guns, should have seen it as such right off but totally forgot them and I'm sure a Cop would miss that too
If that is an airsoft Umarix airsoft gun I would be interested in buying it (via GB of course). I can convert it to IR laser and use it with my shooting simulator.
I need to start a go fund me account to buy a bunch of those to donate to Chicago, Atlanta, Charlotte...
That is a deadly weapon. It'll get you dead really quick.
omg, we talking about Bry???
Scary realistic, what happened to the orange markings at the barrel?
Good thing you guys found it and it wasn't a news item!
It was not in the backpack he takes to school. It was in the one he brings back and forth to our house. He is goofy but not entirely stupid.
The orange cap has been removed. Even the barrel has been removed, so there is a big hole showing instead of a .177" or 6mm size hole. All this is good for is scaring someone. Scaring people is a bad idea. Some people react violently to being frightened.
I am not sure whether this was a BB gun or an Airsoft. Probably Airsoft, since BBs don't work in the magazine. They just fall out. I don't have any Airsoft shot, and am not inclined to buy any.
Bry is 15, and the gun was given to him by one of his friends, "because it doesn't work." So, his mother (there is no father) and his granny did not know he had it.
We had a nice chat about what could happen. For crying out loud, he is a black teenager! There is a world full of people, black and white, who are afraid of black teenagers. Or just teenagers. Add a real-looking pistol to the mix and the fear factor increases exponentially.
Quite a few years ago, I took a real-looking Beretta 92 off a kid in a city park. He was waving it around and shooting the 6mm airsoft shot out of it. And he frightened some people. I contacted him, and fortunately for us both, he laid the gun down when I told him to. (Thank You, Jesus!) This kid had also gotten the gun from a friend, and his parents did not know he had it. So...I took him and his toy home and had a conversation with his father. The man went pale when I handed him the gun and told him what his son had been doing. It was a dad problem and I left him with it.
The good news is, most of these idiots eventually grow up.
Heck in Canada they busted a dude taking those kind of toy weapons and turning them into a shootable firearm,You can expect those types of bb/pellet weapons to be banned very soon. Here too!

Replica airguns and many paintball guns will be banned under the bill because they fall under the new definition of replica firearms.
Well, black or white, young or old, if that gun comes out at the wrong time, then it wouldn't end well for ANY of the above. Looks totally real, I would imagine EVEN more so if pointed at you.😬
Nunn, So glad you and Dawnie were there at the right time to catch this and be able to talk to Bry . I hope he understands how serious this is.
I enjoyed hearing stories of Bry growing up over the years. This one scared me though.
We had 2 urban utes going around waving a pistol at people & threatening them. I found them on Main St. & the "pistol" was hanging out of the ones waist band. I drew on them and lucky for them (& me) they put their hands up & followed commands. It was black & had brown, wood-like grips & I assured them that if they had done anything else, they would be dead. Luckily the only casualty was the young girl who's car I stopped & crossed in front of, pistol drawn. From the look on her face there might have been some leakage.
I bet some of my chromed out six shooters looked like a sat night spl. The main thing is that he now knows what not to do because responsibility is taught by examples
I hope you take him shooting.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
We shoot, and have shot, a good deal.
Same here. Remember the good old days with Roy Rogers/Gene Autry and playing good guys and bad guys with their Peacemaker copy cats. Don't want to try that now. Sad----Ray
What do I think? I think it's a good way to get shot.
It's too bad that all of the old school cap guns no longer exist. Too many "yutes" act like dummies nowadays and get "demselves kilt"......so we need to ban replica firearms now.
Airsoft commandos add to the problem.
So you took that one kid home and talked to the parents? Now THAT is the way the old-school Peace Officers handled problems!
Of course, it helped when the parents were decent, responsible people who were doing their best to raise good kids. Some today could not care less what trouble their kid gets into.
My old man always told me that if I messed up and got into trouble, whatever punishment I got at school would pale in comparison to what would happen when I got home. And he was not kidding, believe me! So I never got into any trouble, and my wife and I raised 4 kids the same way. All in their 30s and 40s now and I am very proud of them.
