Observations from a trip to the range today..........

Decided to take a run to town today and visit an indoor range I frequent. I sighted in a dot sight on one of my hunting pistols and ran a box of .45 ACP through a couple other firearms.....
While I was there at least 6 folks walked in with that rabid look in their eyes and asked...."Do you have any 9mm ?" Others were complaining about the lack of selection in the range store. One guy did buy a Glock 19 Gen 5 MOS and purchased his 50 rounds he was entitled to as part of the deal...
The range was running at about 20-30% while I was there.....I watched one guy shoot 6 rounds through S&W 686 and leave. Most of the other folks shot less than a box and were in and out...
I miss the good old days....

I've seen the same thing at my outdoor range. People still want to shoot, but they are rationing their ammo. I'm shooting a lot more .22LR, but things remain normal...except for .45ACP. One of my absolute a favorites is my P220 .45 ACP
but I just don't have enough ammo.
I get that......I feel a little short in my .357 Mag inventory and have only shot 20 rounds of it so far this year......instead of 3-4 hundred rounds.
Most of us here have been through many ammunition shortages, but no matter how well prepared you think you are, you always come up short on one caliber. I've had the .45 P220 for quite a few years, but it wasn't until I bought the suppressor that I really enjoyed shooting it. As a result, I didn't buy nearly enough .45 ACP.
I was the only one at our local outdoor range for about 2 hours then a couple of other geezers showed up.Most of the time there is a wait for a spot.
I think the 6ARC upper I ordered last November was shipped today. I was able to glean five boxes of factory ammo for it, zero brass in bulk. I have thousands of 6MM bullets and lots of powder choices for it. Thankfully I got the dies before it all wen to crapola.
I shoot almost every day with ammo and components to spare except SR and SP primers.
we normally have at least two sometime more like every month back yard get together with family and friends wasting ammo and just sharing stories and latest guns . we did not do it at all last year and have no plans this year so far.
as for ammo I well I can say 22 lr I could shoot until the cows come home would be a good guess , sadly all the centerfire stuff not so much , I have shot more in a hour in the past then I have right now of most of it .
I have picked up a small amount over the last few months 9mm 45 acp , 5.56, 308, and 7.62x39 just watching for "deals" on the internet or happen to stumble up on it at wally world the only place close to me ( but the every day ammo seekers keep them cleaned out ) all the centerfire ammo was off the internet even a few more AK mags off GB auctions
a few days ago I bought two 50 rnd CCI 22 lr hp packs and a 325 count 22lr federal box . now did I really need them well in one sense no but then again opportunity presented its self , so added to the current shortage and felt a bit guilty about it later
I just happened by as they were stocking the shelf . while shopping for some groceries at wally world . buying the 22lr was more of a old habit impulse purchase . it was 37.00 including tax for all three boxes
Prior preparation prevents _ _ _ _ poor performance---and also reduces the need to scrounge for ammo.
I think it has been shortened over the years older man I worked for always asked me if I stayed out with the dry cows(the ones they didn't milk every day) they didn't feed or milk the dry cows everyday so they stayed out in the pasture eating grass all night
The range I shoot at is the largest in the state. Most of the ones shooting are the regulars who reload and have plenty of primers, powder, and bullets hoarded. It is a sad situation with ammo. The primer situation is beginning to keep even the regulars at home.
Have a decent stock of ammo
and components but shooting less these days . With the resupply situation looking poor , seems prudent to hold on to what I have . At least till we see how the current shortage will play out under the d-rats
