"The NHRA Summit Racing Series is about to have a whole new racing class that will likely cause a lot of stir in the drag racing world, though it won’t create much noise on the track. The class, set to debut for the 2022 season, will allow electric vehicles to compete against one another in the quarter-mile.".
I started racing in the late '50's at Peoria, IL 1/8 mile track. Ran last time around 2008 in my '71 Camaro - 400" mouse, glass doghouse, etc. at Indy Raceway Park.
I remember 20 years ago or so that citizens wanted tracks to mandate mufflers because towns over the years grew closer to once was the tracks rural location!
Nothing lasts forever I guess. 😒

People have been racing electric cars on hobby tracks, slot and otherwise, for a long time. It's only natural to want to race driven electric vehicles.
