Eliminating a hassle for most folks . Good to see, never could understand the point of it anyway with everything else having to thru NICS . Only good thing was having a permit or concealed carry made my job easier when I sold a gun as to the 4473

They are calling it a "purchase" permit, not a carry permit......something in the wording to consider right there. I have a Georgia "Weapons Carry Permit", regardless of the type weapon, knife, sword, baseball bat, etc. etc. 😊

It is a purchase permit which N.C. has used since I think 1967. Our concealed carry permit is completely different.

So you had to get a permit just to buy a firearm ??...........that is strange, good for the residents that it's gone.

Hasn't happened yet. The Republican state House and Senate WILL pass it, but "Nancy Boy" Cooper will veto it and the Republicans don't have a veto proof majority anymore. So it's DOA.

Most laws concerning pistols are stupid! I walked into palmetto state armory. I found a springfield pistol and ar combo, decent price(not super cheap but good enough). This was a couple years ago. Was gonna use their indoor range to make sure I liked the pistol. Asked if my out of state carry permit would work in SC to prevent doing an entire background check. NOPE! SC state law does NOT allow me to buy a pistol, would have to get it shipped to an FFL in my state. I could however walk out the door with the AR, all the ammo and mags I wanted! I guess pistols are more deadly in the law's eye. SMDH.

...Silly and absurd laws in a lot of states still...obviously its not that the handgun is more "deadly"...ever try to hide an AR in your waistband or under a jacket...

Mike- that is not just SC law. FEDERAL law says you may not acquire a handgun except in your state of residence. Been that way since 1968.

I always thought the stupid suppressor laws made no sense.
