just got a call from my daughter, she has Hyunda 2018 sante fe, motor quit on her few weeks ago we had it taken to local mechanic I know, long story short it was low 4 quarts of oil, no leaks no smoke, crank sensor was full of shavings, he changed that and reset computer but it had a knock down low in motor. she call hyunda dealer as it only had 70,000 on it and it has the 100,000 mile warranty, he told her that was only for the original owner and not transferable!!! another long story but my mechanic said to call corporate office she did and they wanted it towed to the dealer to check it out themselves. this was about a week ago, she got a call just few minutes ago they are gonna cover it under the factory warranty at no charge!!!

no warning lights, no oil on driveway, and still in mileage limit for next oil change, dealer told her it may be 2 weeks to month before they get the new motor in and changed as their are about 5 others ahead of her!! she has been using our car and I have been taking wife to work, after 4 years of retirement it sucks to have to get up in mornings again. but it beats having to pay for motor for her, she is recently divorced, two kids and just scraping by so this is as big a relief to us as it is to her, don't know exactly what the problem with the vehicles are but at least corporate is stepping up and taking care of them.......

Sooo...WHERE did the oil go? My $ says that the oil change place probably did not put any oil back into the car during the last oil change. If thats not the case, and it did NOT leak out.....then that only leaves internals like piston rings(should have smoked bad). Curious minds want to know. I have had SEVERAL bad experiences with oil change places(comp vehicles) so nothing they do will surprise me.

GLAD that it is being covered for you! Even when they KNOW it is a factory defect, its sometimes hard to get them to cover the costs!

We had a town mechanic who forgot to refill the oil. Vehicle didn't make it a mile. Luckily the driver stopped & saved the engine.
