Another "deck" question please

Read an article about helping preserve "deck joist" from moisture entering where the screws are installed to hold the boards down. Says to place strips of "deck joist tape" on top of the joist before installing the decking. Anyone heard of this procedure? Thanks

No. Don
Yep, see it on Trex often.
Sure won't hurt to use it.
I have built several dozen decks with pt pine. Three of them in the house I now inhabit. I see no use for them on my decks.
Never have built a deck with Trex.
Never use or liked Trex. New fangeled stuff seems to bite one in the behind.
I do use either copper or galvanized over girders and double bands. Keeps the joint dry. A dry deck is a happy deck.
Doesn't matter composite or wood decking. Never used it , our composite deck is 15 yrs old and looks new. No rot on joists. Didn't use this nervous nellie stuff..
