Finally found a gun that I cannot find in "Completed sales" on Gunbroker.
This is not some sort of conversion, but made in that caliber. Found a bit about the history- only made 1985-1986. This is one of about 200 they made with a Zytel nylon "boat paddle" stock, pistol grip. And can use Browning Hi Power magazines. Fairly inexpensive plinker. Shoots quite well.
Does ANYONE have an idea what the value would be on one of these critters? Condition is excellent.
EDIT- Thank you all for the info. It's a fun, handy little carbine- and I paid $300 for it. The boat paddle stock looks a bit weird, but shoots comfortably.

700-900
Just a guess, I'm thinking $700-900 would be the value as a shooter and $1,200 to 1,500 as a rarity.
