One of my boys is named Thor after the Norse god of thunder and protector of humanity. He's got the protectin' part down pat but let there be one little rumble of thunder and I'll have 95 pounds of dog shakin' in my lap.

I've got a 1/4 boxer/ 3/4 great Pyrenees girl. She helps with choring. Doesn't let a goat or calf past the gate.

Started out skittish, but she loves thumping bunnies with me now, after hours, in the dark.

    120lbs of "who's a good girl!"

Our long-gone yellow Lab could have chewed and pawed his way out of a high-risk cell if it thundered. Fortunately, we can go months here without a t-storm.

Query: Was it because thunder was so rare for him to hear? Do dogs react like that if they live where t-storms are almost a daily occurrence? Or do they get accustomed to the noise? And is it some kind of physical thing peculiar to dogs that thunder affects them so severely?

    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

Thinder does not seem to bother either Bella the lab or Luke the poodle . The sound or sight of guns or gunfire terrifies Bella ,Luke could care less.

cry Havoc and let slip  the dogs of war.....
