Although always described as a cowboy, Roswellnative generally acts as a righter of wrongs or bodyguard of some sort, where he excels thanks to his resourcefulness and incredible gun prowesses.

    LOL

I have never understood the concept of a dedicated "Snake" gun. Most snakes are harmless and very few will go out of their way to attack a human. Snakes are easy to dispatch if the need arises with just about anything from a rock to a shovel.

I have found the Flat Shovel to be just about the best all around snake killer where I live. The shovel is long enough to kill the snake without getting into range of his fangs. The flat nose of the shovel will cleanly remove the snakes head and the you can scoop him up. After dispatching the snake and moving it to it burial ground you can use the shovel to dig him a small grave and place him in it. Much cheaper and more efficient than a snake gun.

But then we all know that the 410 with #7'12 shot is like a death ray, its like shooting something with a pitbull infected with covid-19.

Most snakes are beneficial and rarely pose a threat.

It looks like typical Boito quality. I remember when the big box stores carried Boito O/U shotguns years ago. They appeared to be built down to a low price and not up to the quality of a decent firearm. We used to describe them as the Jennings of shotguns. Not many kept them working long enough to notice that the bolts holding the 2 piece forend together got hot from firing and burned your hand. Bob

Like Sam said, snakes are not that big of a deal and if needed can be easily dispatched with something laying about. If a person wanted a snake gun the High Standard .22 or .22 mag derringer loaded with shot is about ideal to carry in your pocket. One of our members bought on of these for just that purpose after a posting a question about snake guns.

The one in the listing seems cumbersome for what it is. What was the break action weapon sold for ranch hands? IIRC it chambers .410 shot shells or .45 colt.

If I owned that I wouldn't show it to my friends.

Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

Would you keep it, if someone, not a friend, gave that to you?? Personally I would accept that "gun" because it would be such a nice present to re-gift to someone you don't like!! 😁

Best choice is your usual carry revolver with the first round up a shot load. For "surprise" rattlers only. Otherwise, just walk around it. For more serious use, just thumb the hammer back twice to get to a bullet load.

    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.
