Had to put Daisy down...

wpagewpage Member Posts: 10,201 ✭✭✭

My golden retriever of 13 years had tumors that would not stop bleeding and due to her enlarged heart and other issues. Vet recommended euthanasia as a best solution.

My wife is irreconcilable over the loss.

Even thou we still have another dog and a cat.

No more dogs in our future. Its too hard to lose a silent friend. It breaks my heart to say farewell to a old buddy.

Never easy, believe me I know. We just remember, even after many years, the interesting & funny stuff they always got into and laugh. Condolences.

"Where did our 13 years go, my graying friend, my love? How unfairly fast the time has come when your body can't obey your great, great heart. No matter Daisy, we were young together and knew what life was all about. Let's turn back now and build a fire and take a little nap."

sorry to hear nothing can ease the pain and loss of our companions

however only time will help ease the feelings , we have a lot of buddies waiting on us at the rainbow bridge . we still have so many fond memories and sad thoughts on having to say goodbye to them . we lost out little Weiner dog Wendy just a couple months ago she was 12 years old so many organs failing and cancer we did all we and the vets could same with the other ones I could not sleep knowing we did not try all we could but we also did not want them suffering

we still have three dogs our male Weiner dog has lost his hearing and I am sure will be next he is also 12 ( we got Wendy and Butch just a couple weeks apart ) we could tell he took it hard he seem to look for weeks for Wendy after she passed

we have said no more dogs it too hard to let them go . but as long as we can I am sure we will try and give another buddy a secure and loving home even if its hurts us to say good by

unconditional love in return for a life long friendship

So very sorry for your loss. It's a pain I'm afraid most of us are all to familiar with.

Sorry to hear about that.Yes, it is hard. But I guess that it is a good sign for us to so saddened by the loss of a companion that was always there, always happy to see us.

We were dog free for just a bit over 3 years. First time since 1984 or 85.

Despite the last round of sadness, I’m glad to have one again, going on month 3 now. I know what we will eventually have to go through, but there isn’t a good way to measure and track the years of joy they bring to compare to the sadness. But I think the joy wins.

Condolences from our home to yours. We had an in-home service help us send our kitty companion of 18 years on his way 3 days ago, so like most here, I know the heartache you, and your wife are feeling. You clearly have alot of love to share with a furry child and I think it would be a disservice to yourselves, and any one of the many animals out there who need someone just like you, to not get another.

Daisy would probably want that, for all of you.

    Arrivederci gigi

I feel your sadness for your loss wpage. I actually cried when our 9 year old Golden passed beside my bed in the wee hours of the night some 5 years ago. I was up and awake holding on to him as he let go a light whimper and was gone. The day before he had a fine time riding along with me and his other 4 legged buddy out and about town in the minivan. He was riddled with cancer bumps but never showed any pain or distress until the very last evening which was on a Sunday and the vets office was closed.

My other Golden will be having his 6th birthday in a few more days on the 14th. I plan to spoil him a bit more than usual on that day, he may not even notice!

...I'm really very, very sorry...I know how it HURTS..."words" can't help... I had a Border Collie for 19 years, and she was actually fine until a couple of months before I needed to do the unthinkable...its been almost 3 years and I still think of her every day...I swore I would NEVER have another, and have to go thru that again, it just BITES too bad...

...The woman I loved, passed away unexpectedly two years ago this past May...she had picked out a red/brown male Dobie and black/brown female Dobie when they were both 8 weeks old, so Ive always been around them...they make me smile, laugh, pizz me off, but they love me and I wouldn't take anything for them...so here I am, with TWO best friends, again, I'm really sorry for your loss...
