I watched this vid this morning. It's really good. It has of course oversimplified many of the issues and necessarily so in certain cases but if you really want to know why that truck is so expensive (@neacpa ) or why those building materials are so costly, this covers all that.
TLDW: it's because so many companies don't do JIT manufacturing correctly, tariffs/US port structures, and US dock workers being sick.

Supply and demand. This time both changed, less supply coupled with more demand. Then toss interruption of the supply line r/t COVID and we get what we got.
It's a little more complicated than that, but those two factors are at the basis of any economic problem.

Unreal the shortages, and price increases we are being hit with in the HVACR industry. Every day I get a minimum of 6 emails informing me of a price increase coming up. R410A and other 'R4' refrigerants just went ballistic this past week.
End users better grab their ankles cuz those increases are going to trickle down, and they will be the ones to pay. Manufacturer to wholesaler to contractor to 'end' user. End is highlighted for a reason.
Yikes! It seems to be hitting exactly every industry.

Excellent video.
Not sure how I missed it 1st time around.
Taiwan could literally be ground zero for World War 3.
It’s interesting this video is from a commercial goods perspective.
The reality is much scarier from a Defense industry point if view.
