Very hot and dry here in SE Wisconson
Just want to check in and say HI!
Super hot for June here in SE/WI, mid to upper 90's and can't remember when we last had any rain.
First time in 4 years we put in a big garden. Haven't the last 3 seasons with all my medical stuff, just didn't or couldn't deal with it. I like to garden. 'da wife is out there every night watering. Finally got around to putting in a rasp-berry patch. Been saying it for years, finally late this spring just took half a day and did it. My grandmother used to have tons of rasp-berry bushes. The joy of being a little kid, picking berrys and then go in the milk-house and skim some cream out of the bulk tank to put on top of the berrys. A piece of heaven.
Got myself another Troy Built rotor-tiller. Had one years ago, for some reason sold it to one of my brother-in-laws and regretted it for years. Picked up a 1980, 8HP Horse model. Runs good. Replaced the tiller tines last week. Took me months of looking for one. First, hard to find and second, the owners want an arm and a leg for one. Am happy I found it.
Still working on finding a pick-up. Prices are way up there with the shortages of new trucks. Last month, younger son got himself a 2021 Toyota Tacoma 4X4. He looked hard to find what he wanted, STICK shift. He paid full sticker and said that is a deal in todays market.
Past few weeks, Been catching up on odd projects around the place. Gunsmithing is slow and it feels good to spin wrenches, pound nails and work on the yard for a change.
Cleared a bunch of dead wood and low hanging limbs around the yard. Got to use last years Father's Day gift from older son, a Echo 10" trimmer saw. I'm a Stihl guy, but Jake, for himself likes and owns Echo, so he thought dad should have one. Ain't bad. I'll keep it.
Want to do some canning this year. Home made spaghetti, jelly and jams. Try and find canning lids and rings! Good luck with that plan.
Turn the big 65 in September and have been looking at all the plans for Medicare. Take all those famous people on TV who tell this is the best plan and you will get what you have coming. They should get what they have coming, a swift kick in the pants. Ain't no free lunch.
Later.........................

Good to hear from you pinshooter! Sounds like you are keeping yourself real busy! I hit 65 back in February and have just settled for the standard Medicare plan along with my VA medical bennies. I sure wish I had more energy to get things done around here like you seem to be doing.
I do my best work in the wee hours of the morning. By the time the clock strikes noon, time for sit down and a cold beer! Anyhoo......stick around! This place needs you around! ☺️
Hot and humid with rain for the last two months here in SW Missouri. Wish I could garden here, but the soil is so poor that only the native species grow well. Every year I say I'm going to put in some raised beds, but haven't gotten around to it so far.
I talked to a shop in Miss a couple of hours ago who told me they had just gotten 6" of rain in one hour.
SEMO having thunderstorms followed by temps in the 90's. When the rain stops the humidity is so high you can swim in the air!
I restocked up on canning lids last winter, off of Amazon.
Just looked. They have a lot for sale on there.
Raining cats and dogs in Council Tucky Iowa, (the armpit of Iowa), right now.
Hope it hits home, also.
hot and dry up here by Ft McCoy , was hoping to get some rain last night but the storms petered out
earlier this week,, I was talking to one of our ND drivers , they got dumped on Tuesday morning, raining so hard he had to pull over and sit the storm out
Hot and dry here in SW Wisconsin as well, 105* heat index. no fun for sure and it's not even August. Sure could use some rain. Had 50% chance for showers Wednesday, lol got more like 50 drops. The Wisconsin River is so low you can almost walk across it in places. Cattle are running out of grazing land and the fields are not even producing enough to mow and bail for the upcoming winter.
Just received some needed rain the last week here in SC.
Got 3/4 inch in central Wis. last nite, maybe more storms coming tonite.
JimmyJack. Just heard on the radio big winds, rain and BIG hail headed your way!
Didnt get much.
Should have offered her another drink😲
