I know. Sorry.
I know what this is about and it's sickening. Every driver's safety class I've had (and I have had several) said that you only pull over when it is safe to do so. Concrete barriers where there is no shoulder is UNSAFE. That cop needs to burn in hell.

What does having being pregnant have to do with this ... sounds like a former Tenant who couldn't pay her rent... I am pregnant... while still working.
There sure is a lot left out in the article about this incident. It was said that the pit was performed after a 84 mph chase after 2 miles. If this woman had just slowed down when she saw the flashing lights then perhaps the officer wouldn't have initiated his pit maneuver. It would not be possible to flip a car going 35 mph on the shoulder of the road until she found a comfortable place to stop. How was the officer to know the demeanour of the person ignoring his attempt at a traffic stop? Just how the heck would he know she was pregnant? Would flipping the car have been o.k. if it had been a 25 year old white guy that was not cooperating? I am not saying the officer was right but she sure added to his decision to use the pit by her actions. Bob
did you not see her 4 way flashers going , pretty darn obvious she wasn't going that fast any more and was trying to cooperate
oh and since when is it ok for a cop to try and kill you for doing 14 mph over the posted speed limit
Well, it depend upon the state, your color and sexual persuasion.
I do not bash the LEO's.. They have my utmost respect and I treat them so.
I was not a eye witness to the incident but there seems to be a big problem with what the shows happening.
A real good chance I would have did the same thing as the SUV driver, try to find a safer place to pull over.
As posted before, no wonder the LEO has little respect, this video is flying around the world via the internet.
A high speed chase in which people are killed is also very questionable.
Yes, IMHO the trooper made a bad decision. However:
There is a tiny bit bad and evil in every profession. Police, doctors, accountants, and even priests.
To judge all cops by the behavior of a few bad actors is stereotyping and just as inherently evil. Yes there is a tiny population of bad cops but the sheer numbers of good eclipse them thousand fold. Too bad we rarely if ever hear about the good they do.
I for one refuse to buy into the media and their DEMOCRATs handlers narrative that all cops are bad and evil. The real evil resides in those stereotyping cops as such.
Watch the video I posted. She had slowed WAAAY down, and yeah, he flipped her doing what looks like about 35 MPH. She was signalling that she was going to pull over when it was safe, moved way right in her lane. The exit was about 1 more mile from where he flipped her.

STUPID COP. Makes them all look bad. They should fire him.
I had an Uncle who was a motorcycle cop for 30 years, I respect the profession and its members, and have had many friends on the job, this was not a safe or proper response to a speeding violation that had already been slowed to what appears to be below the speed limit and was soon to be over with just a little patients ,.This obviously has nothing to do with being pregnant, and was at the time of the pit maneuver already virtually under control for a full stop. The slowing, changing lanes to the slow lane, the 4 ways on all point to the probable nearing end of the chase.
If the suv did not pull over and stop after passing the next off ramp, or other much safer pull-off out of any high speed traffic threat, well then maybe more violent action should/could have been taken at that time.
Until then IMHO that trooper was over zealous and thoughtless in his overly aggressive tactic . He needs to be given at the least some un-paid vacation time and some badly needed retraining in the use of deadly force
Have you ever thought that the cop and the speeder were in cahoots when chit like this happens and is on video?
Woman sues and gets several million. Cop gets fired but splits the jackpot.
Weirder things have happened in the past and this case is right out of a Perry Mason drama.
I think the point in mentioning it is how clear it is the woman was not one who should or would typically be putting herself into a situation where she was fleeing the cops trying to risk life and limb. Obviously, there are exceptions, but as a general rule, women try to protect their unborn.

Yeah I've seen the video. What is not shown is her actions before when she was speeding. Was she swerving in and out of traffic? Was she endangering other drivers? Did she appear to be intoxicated? We aren't shown that part of the video. A lot of police departments have guidelines for pit maneuvers that specify @ 35mph and under it is considered a lower level of force because the likelihood of a rollover at those lower speeds is remote. I am guessing if in fact she was only going 35 then the resulting rollover was unintentional. As I said, I am not condoning the cops actions but we don't know the whole story. Bob
When blue lights are behind you.........PULL OVER AND STOP. If it is unsafe, the the LEO will ask you to move. I am 100% sure that the intent was NOT to cause the van to flip. Lots of Monday morning quarterbacking going on here, BUT you have to remember that LEOs are shot at DAILY now in the USA. Sad times for sure. Did he make a mistake? Maybe, but the fact is....she should have pulled over! Lesson learned.
Unless she had been shooting at the cop or he was following her because she was fleeing as an armed robbery suspect, there is no reason for the pit maneuver, and that goes double considering the fact the woman was clearly indicating her intent to comply: slowing down, signalling, moving over to the right. Seems like some folks want to go out of their way to justify the horrible actions of the cop.

Listen to a radio or tv station out of Los Angles and you can see or hear a car chase damn near every day. It's like a party for them. Sometimes they will go on for miles, but as long as the driver isn't doing stupid stuff that is super dangerous for other traffic, the cops just follow behind. Heck sometimes there will be twenty cars with flashing lights. Like a parade. You don't strike a car with your car for no reason, and that cop, as far as I can see, had no reason. I just read that he was fired.
In Florida even the Highway Patrol tells people that if you don't feel safe or are not sure that the vehicle truing to pull you over is a real cop then drive to where it is safe or call 911 yourself and describe the situation.
Flipping someone's car for failing to stop is stupid and clearly an over reaction.
That cop should go bye bye
Flipping someone's car for not stoping IS stupid. Now do you really believe that was the officers intent? "C'mon man" 😁. I simply stated the fact is, pull over and this will NOT happen. Do NOT run from the police, they won't chase you. Do NOT shoot at police and they won't shoot you. Yea, in RETROSPECT it probably was a mistake to PIT her. BUT the officer does NOT share the same privlage that we do by commenting AFTER the fact. Who KNOWS what really happened, NONE of us because we wasn't there. Seems to me that "some people want to go out of their way to justify the horrible actions of the" perp! People are saying he should be fired etc etc because you watched a 30 second video....Judge much?
In principal , I agree. In fact I said that I didn't condone what he did. My only concern was that everyone is basing their opinion on 30 seconds of video and statements by the speeder and her attorney. How often in just the last few years has the general public made up its mind without getting the whole story? Michael Brown and a few other BLM causes come to mind. Or how about the media saying the Wuhan lab may be the virus source is nothing but a conspiracy? There may be nothing more to this story but it is to soon for me to make up my mind. I'll save my outrage for when all the facts are known. Bob
My wife has been instructed to never pull over in a place where no one else is around.
She pulled over for a blue light long ago, turned out to be "hit man". No harm developed but a very scary situation.
Slowing down and signaling should be enough to warrant a "Police " escort for at least a few miles.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
THIS!
My wife and daughters have all been advised to avoid pulling over on a dark, narrow highway. Slow down, turn on your turn signal and proceed slowly to the next, well lit exit.
This cop was a moron and has likely been a moron throughout his 27 yrs of service. His bad fortune, this debacle was caught on tape.
To the GOOD LEO's out there, thanx for what you do!
It makes no difference if he intended to flip the car or not. The fact is he did flip the car and anytime you perform a maneuver of that type there is a risk of the care flipping, the driver being seriously injured or killed. It was a speeding offense, that does not condone lethal force or potential lethal force. If you hit a man and he falls striking his head on a curb ant it kills him is "I didn't mean for that to happen" an acceptable defense? No it isn't and neither is "I didn't mean to flip the car".
Ummm yes it is! Or it could be, but you don't know because you only watched 30 seconds of the fight where he was hit. Possible that the man that died in your scenario had just attempted to rob me. I just love how SURE people are when they judge someone off a 30 second video. Hopefully y'all are as outstanding and make ALL the 100% correct decisions in your life, just like you expect this cop to have done! I am sure that he was given permission to perform the PIT. How long did he chase her BEFORE she slowed down? How far AFTER she slowed down? How many cars did she possibly run off the road BEFORE the video started? Know one knows, BUT several on here KNOW he is a bad cop and should be fired. I hope none of you ever end up on a REAL jury! I guess they would have to prove their innocent too! This is backwards world

State trooper accused of hitting, flipping pregnant woman's SUV in botched traffic stop
Updated on: June 11, 2021 / 6:09 AM / CBS News
A terrifying scene was captured on video in Arkansas where a state trooper deliberately bumped a pregnant woman's car, causing it to hit the median and flip over.
The officer said he performed the approved maneuver because the driver was speeding and didn't pull over. The driver, Janice Harper, said it was not safe to stop, CBS News' Jericka Duncan reports.
The video is now evidence in a lawsuit.
Harper was on her way home from the movies last July when Arkansas State Trooper Rodney Dunn tried to pull her over for going too fast.
Video from Dunn's dash camera shows within seconds of turning on his overhead lights, Harper moves into the right lane, slows down and turns on her hazards while continuing to drive.
Dunn hits Harper's car about two minutes later.

Video from Dunn's dash camera shows within seconds of turning on his overhead lights, Harper moves into the right lane, slows down and turns on her hazards while continuing to drive.
Dunn hits Harper's car about two minutes later.
The maneuver caused the SUV to spin on the highway, hit the inside wall and flip.
Dunn can be heard calling for EMS before pulling over and talking to Harper while helping her out of the car.
"Are you the only one in the vehicle?" Dunn asks.
"Yes, I'm pregnant," Harper replies to him.
Then Dunn can be heard telling her, "Well ma'am, you've got to pull over when we tell you."
Harper points out to Dunn that her flashers were on.
"It doesn't matter ma'am," he says.
Harper says, "I thought it would be safer to wait until the exit."
"No ma'am, you pull over when law enforcement stops you, OK," Dunn replies.
According to an Arkansas state driver's license guide, when being stopped by law enforcement a driver should "activate your turn signal or emergency flashers to indicate to the officer that you are seeking a safe place to stop."
A new lawsuit from Harper claims "there were no exits or shoulder for [Harper] to safely exit the highway."
In the video, Dunn tells Harper that he performed a "PIT maneuver" for "when people flee from us or don't stop."
"I wasn't fleeing," she replies.

In that 30 sec. anyone can plainly see the car is slowing and has signaled their intention to stop and what happened 30 sec. before is immaterial. He had no reason to make contact with her car. If someone fires a shot at you then drops the gun and runs away and you draw your weapon, give chase and shoot the man in the back do you think you would be charged with murder?? The threat is over and the same with the car, if there ever was a "threat". And his attitude as he was talking to the woman sucks as well. The guy is a jerk and has no business wearing a badge.
"I wasn't fleeing," she replies.... The Officer could have stopped in the far right lane with lights on and the suspect could have pulled on the blacktop against the right barrier. She chose not to..
By Saying she wasn't fleeing ..admits she KNEW there was an Officer behind her.

she did all of that , what more do you want her to do ?
What happens BEFORE something terrible happens is ALWAYS important! Shot a man who just shot at you 30 seconds before...self defense. Plan to shoot the same man and then shoot him....1st degree murder. To say that NOTHING matters before the camera was turned on is simply CRAZY. In the end, after someone reviews the EVIDENCE then the office may be in trouble. We may also find out that it was justified AFTER facts are reviewed. Glad y'all are on here and not in a jury box somewhere😁
Except she did NOT drop the car and run off. In this non fictional situation, that car IS the deadly weapon. In your fictional story, then ya you can chase him down and arrest him because he dropped his weapon. Too many diff options to pick from when making up "what ifs". Fact is, if she would have STOPPED then he would not have done a PIT. Maybe he will be wrong when the evidence is out, but you judged the whole case in 30 seconds of video....That my friend is why large portions of America burned last year....OUTRAGE with NO FACTS. What for the facts, then decide. It's so simple a 5th grader can do it😁
I don't understand your purpose since that isn't in question.
One purpose is to point out that she did have a place to safely stop, but chose not to. Again, I wasn't there and didn't see what select-fire was pointing out. But that's the purpose of his post. YW
Well,....if she has to work currently, she won't need to for long.
