Just noticed this new service this AM.
It's being willing. I found out early that most men, regardless of cause or need, aren't willing. They blink an eye or draw a breath before they pull the trigger. I won't. ~ J.B. Books

A new MS service that will appear in the lower right corner of your screen ... near clock and date.
Appeared on mine after I installed MS updates.
I'm still not following.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
Thank you. It just showed up a day or so ago. Now it's gone.
Yep, good ol' microsoft. Always diddlin' around with somethin'. Did you notice that FOX news was not one of the new source selections? Imagine that...
Nothing new down by my clock and date.
Right click task bar, select news and interest, and select turn off.
My laptop has a weather icon down there and thinks I live in Ohio. I thought for a minute to change that but quickly decided it best to leave my whereabouts a mystery to microsoft!

Many Thanks for the information. The stuff was present after the 'update' a day or so ago. Also after the 'update' all of the GunBroker watch-list things started to go to the "Spam' file instead of the 'Inbox' file. Do you have any idea of how to get the watch-list items to to directly to the "Inbox' as they previously did. Many Thanks in advance. Best Regards - AQH
Well after switching off the icon as was suggested - it seems now that the watch-list items are going to the 'Inbox'.
Best Regards - AQH
Delete It???? Heck no!!! I've tried all the way back to windows 98 to get the date, time, and weather to come up like that. I'm leaving it.
OK George, if ya can't beat em, join em.
I turned mine OFF just now. I liked it at first but it has not been current or accurate for quite awhile. Done with it.
Thanks afterall for the tip.
More power to you if you are liking the Mac. But, MS has made solid OS's for some time now, if a bit over reaching (no more than an iPhone though). Aside from hard drive failure, I can't remember the last time I had to reinstall an OS on my ~10 desktops at home, or 5 servers. They run everything from Windows XP (1), Windows 7 (2), the rest on Windows 10. The servers run 2012r2 on the 3 newest ones, and 2008 on one, and 2003 on my oldest one. I use these for my personal and professional testing. When not doing that, they are working their tails off running medical research through Stanford University. The software and project is called Folding@home.
I've got servers at work and at home, and a few desktops that haven't been rebooted in years. At work, I just logged out of a Server 2012 machine that its specific task we don't need it to be updated. It shows it was last rebooted 2837 days ago which was just days after we installed it. (late 2013 according to the warranty).
All that is to say that the Windows ME and Vista debacles were fairly bad, but even those ran great on many.
My previous system ran great, no issues except in one game. When I hit a busy (graphically) scene, the game would crash to desktop. Since every other game I had, plus the aforementioned Folding@Home which is very process intensive all worked great, I blamed the game. I built a new HEDT in Dec. 2018. The absolute best of everything (that I needed for work and play) went into it. All was new except the power supply as it showed it had plenty of power for my build. I got the new machine built (to the tune of over $8k). After setting up all the stuff I'd need for work, I installed my games I was playing then. I fired up the game I play most, and it also crashed to the desktop in the exact same manner in the same places. The light in my mind came on. Only part was used from previous system was power supply. I put in a brand new, but less powerful PSU that already had. With it in, instead of crashing to desktop, the machine would just click and shut off. That told me it wasn't powerful enough. So, I ordered a 1600 watt power supply and problem went away. My point is, that even though I had been in I.T. for 28 years at that point, I was sure it was the game itself that was the issue. Turns out, my power supply was the cause all along. An electrician friend did some testing and found it was putting out really dirty power above about 1000 watts. Your issue(s) could have been a faulty system component causing the issue all along such as bad RAM module or failing hard drive.
Not trying to convert you back or anything. Use what you like and what works for you. I was just pointing out that it could have been something other than the OS. And, as time has went on, MS OS's have gotten exponentially more stable, more secure, and most of the time are self-repairing. Another last thought... Last I checked anyway, Intel based PC's could run the Mac OS. One could buy a MUCH cheaper PC and then put that OS on it. Mac hardware is good quality stuff though, I can't knock it, but it is priced at a premium for the same specs on a PC.
